Milan’s Brazilian ace Kaka has beaten Francesco Totti to win the title of calcio’s top earner and the Rossoneri have Serie A’s biggest wage bill.

According to research printed in La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kaka’s annual salary of £4m is unmatched in the peninsula with Totti’s £3.7m haul his closest rival.

Inter trio Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Patrick Vieira and the troubled Adriano are all trailing behind with a modest £3.4m alongside Azzurri goalkeeper Gigi Buffon at Juventus.

Nerazzurri new boy Cristian Chivu is the biggest winner of the summer as his new deal will net him £2.3m, narrowly more than Milan’s Emerson and fellow Beneamata newcomer David Suazo.

While Milan and Inter’s wage bills are almost equal - £80m and £74m respectively – and Juventus are paying £66m, Roma are the most shrewd giants with just £40m to their name.

City rivals Lazio are also unexpectedly frugal with just £12m spent annually, while Cagliari have the tightest hold on the purse strings as they pay just £7.5m per year – less than it would cost to employ just Kaka and Totti.

Kaka earns nothing compared to EPL stars! just to mention one, JT earns £6.8 million-a-year... quite exaggerating, ain't it?!

That's a shame that Kaka, one of the world's two or three best players, doesn't earn even as much as Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney! I don't want to offend anybody, but it's one of the reasons I hate EPL, money is EVERYTHING over there.

The world of football has expanded beyond anyone's expectations! It's not Terry that earns a lot, it's Kaka that earns little!! And what you describe is not an EPL-exclusive thing! What goes up must come down and vice versa; Serie A will be the place-to-be again some time in the future and that's where the money is going to be. It's not something to be ashamed of...

Correct (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Plus, with the entrance of several Billionaires into the EPL, it has bound to make an effect from that aspect.

Ohh when will Serie A return as the #1 ... Those beautiful 90's (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Yeah but if you've been to London and bought food or went out on the town someone has to make the bank to even live there. The purchasing power of it in London is less than what Kaka can do for his family in Brazil or in Italy, though Milan is expensive. Terry just gave the utlimatium and Abramovich has so many 0's on is bank account statement it doesn't even phase him.

Favalli every time he played, he did his job well.

Cafu, Serginho and Maldini will be out in 2008. I can see Zambrotta coming next year.

From your mouth to Don Silvio's ears.

This salary talk is interesting to me, but...maybe I'm just old. I remember when football was actually about competition, not about money.

(And yay for Favallinho. I like him!)

I don't know... maybe...
But right now EPL players are paid more than they deserve compared to other leagues. they're surely overpaid.

Overpaid?? Well compared to what their teams earn and what they do for their teams I wouldn't say they are overpaid... especially considering what golf players, F1 drivers and tennis players earn!

24 ingaggi dei giocatori del Milan su 25, pubblicati ieri, erano sbagliati. E soprattutto l'ingaggio di Digao: non sappiamo se sia indigesto, CERTAMENTE è molto, ma molto, inferiore al milione di euro

[24 of the 25 Milan player salaries that were published yesterday were wrong. Above all, the salary of Digao: we don't know where they got it from, but it's CERTAINLY much, much less than a million euros.]
