Beckham Turned Down Milan, Reveals Galliani

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has revealed that David Beckham turned them down before penning his deal with Los Angeles Galaxy.

Inter had been linked with the former England skipper, but Galliani revealed that even Milan had made an approach.

"There was a chance that he would have come to Milan," Galliani told Gazzetta dello Sport. "He has now decided to go to Los Angeles, but if he had stayed in Europe, we would have signed him.

"However, he has chosen a different adventure and a different life in America."

Galliani also hinted towards a new approach in the market, with emphasis on youth development as well.

"We will try to be more like Arsenal than Chelsea," he said. "We intend to scout for youngsters and discover fresh talent, like Ronaldinho when at Gremio. He should not be in PSG or Barcelona [as in Milan should snap up such players].

"However, when it comes to that, Italian league suffers economically compared to others, such as that or Spain."

We should be more like Arsenal, in that they sign youth - yet we sign a 34 yo Favalli, try to sign a 30 yo Becks and are constantly linked with Ronaldinho, why does Galliani persist with these lies? (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

That old chestnut again (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) , Galliani was chief of Lega Calcio for a couple of years yet I cannot recall him trying to change this situation. Perhaps this just another excuse from the baldy one?!?!?! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

What I can't understand is, so we where willing to pay David Beckham aka the washed up celebrity football player well over 12 mill € per year in salaries, but not just give two more mil to Lazio and get the player we truly need

Well actually if you look at it, Lotito has got more to lose.

From his view point supposing the deal doesn't go through hypothetically,

1. Oddo is major pissed at the club and does a Cassano, probably divorces his wife EQUALS even more pissed off, thereby doing a Cassano+ Gallas(of Chelsea) to Lazio
2. Milan might go this season without a new RB, fortunately the club has enough quality to finish 4th, with the skin of their teeth yes, but achievable.
3. Cometh the summer transfer window, Lotito is forced to sell Oddo at Milan's asking rate coz otherwise he's gonna get j@ckshit since Oddo won't renew.
4.Milan keeps it's pride intact, since we were not hustled into a deal we didn't want by a two-bit motor mouthing thug which is what he is.

I mean c'mon...Lotito is proper crook . He sealed a deal that Lazio would pay taxes pending the last six years within 2026! I for one don't believe the figures he's touting to the press, he's probably asked for percentage of ticket sales at the San Siro for every game Oddo plays in. He's that kinda b!tch.

Well Galliani as a chief of Lega Calcio couldn't change the rule. That is the work for government.

Guys face the reality. We are only trying to sign Oddo, others will come in the summer. But there is another problem. We (even in the summer) can only sign one noneuropean player. The others who might come from outside europe have to have european passports (that is the rule in Italy and just in Italy) so we will have to choose for only one player.

Berlusca offcourse (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) , but that doesn't meen anything. You have to have majority in the parlament to change a law and Berlusca didn't have that, not even in his coalition. Italy at the moment (actually for a couple of years now) are in little crises when it comes to all kind of taxes and economy.

I'm sure Don Silvio could have made changes if he'd wanted to, after all he changed the law to cover himself (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

To me, it just seems that Galliani is constantly coming out with excuses (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I heard about that .. Someone was telling me that if you take France and Italy's economies, and put them together .. It wont even come close to Germany's economy (in terms of taxs, industry, etc..). I guess it has something to do w/ the Euro and unemployment; which basically means less $$ turn-over, which is why they are in a 'little crisis'.

Am I right ?! or the person who gave this info had something inaccurate ?
