Galliani confirms Carletto faith

Thursday 19 April, 2007 ::: channel4.com

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has confirmed that Carlo Ancelotti will stay, dismissing the Coach’s worries.

The Rossoneri increased their lead over Palermo thanks to the 5-2 win at Ascoli, but the tactician warned the club that he wanted a contract extension, stating that he was eager to continue his adventure with the San Siro outfit.

“I think he will stay for a long time, but I don’t believe there is the need to sign a new contract a year and a half before the current one expires,” Galliani told Sky Italia on Wednesday.

“He has a contract until next season [June 2008] and there will be time to renew it,” added the Rossoneri official.

Ancelotti was not completely happy with the team’s performance, despite the impressive win against bottom of the table Ascoli.

Galliani explained that the Coach was probably disappointed because Milan made their life more difficult in the second half.

“I think he was angry because after a good first half, we lost a bit of concentration,” said the former Lega Calcio chief.

“When we were winning 3-0 and then 4-1, the team looked at itself with too much narcissism.

“However I must admit that Milan have been playing well in the past weeks. After we recovered almost all our injured players, our life changed,”
concluded the Rossonero.

Milan have consolidated fourth place, as they are four points ahead of Palermo, and are now just three points behind Lazio in third after the Biancocelesti’s goalless draw with Chievo.

At this moment of the season... he wouldn't say anything different. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Why is this good news? Like Porty ( (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ) said he wouldn't say anything different. Did you expect him to come out with "Well... who gives a f@ck about Ancelotti, we already have a plan for next year and he's not in it..." .......... Obviously he wasn't going to say anything negative about Ancelotti, but he didn't have to say anything at all.

Stating that he has faith shows he obviously does, if he didn't, nothing would have been said.

My experience tells me the exact opposite. If someone starts to declare faith unprovoked it means he has his thoughts somewhere else but still hopes or gives a chance. I think this "faith period" depends only on how Carlo ends up in the CL and SA with us. Its just a short-time move by Galliani to reduce the pressure of from Carlo, but... Either Frank or Ronnie are comming from Barca this season, I feel it... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

They asked him, so if he refused to talk about this issue everyone would have thought Carlo is on his way out...
