It's not blindness and it's not permanent. He has double vision in his left eye due to nerve damage IIRC.

Also, aside from a handful, all Milan fans love Gattuso, simply because he's given everything he has to this team. He's faught like no other for our colours and that's why I always was, and will still continue to be a Rino fan.

But these days it just pains me to watch him make a mockery out of what he used to be, what he used to stand for. He just doesn't have it in him anymore. I still am behind him 100% no matter what he decides, at the end of the day it's his career and reuptation.

But at some point he has to draw a line. This problem is going to keep him out for 6 months. At this stage of his career, when he's already on a rapid decline, those 6 months might as well be 2 years. The club have offered him a backroom position. If I were him I'd jump at the chance, and I'd love to see him in such a position. He still needs to be involved at Milan some way or another, he's a vital part of this club and our recent success. But continueing to play, even when it might damage his health (problems with your sight in your 30s is not something to joke about) and effect his personal life. I don't think they should be called that way, nor do we know if indeed they were the same individuals.

I think we're overreacting here a bit. Did he loose immensely respect after his thing? Sure. But let's be fair - Rino has other qualities and this incident last year cannot destroy everything he's done for a decade and a half.
