Milan and Bayern to meet again
Friday, 9 March 2007

AC Milan have been paired with fellow European heavyweights FC Bayern München in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after today's draw in Athens, the host city of this season's final.

Exciting encounters
Milan and Bayern, who have ten European crowns between them, met most recently in the first knockout round of last season's competition where the Italian side won 5-2 on aggregate. The other matches see PSV Eindhoven and Liverpool FC paired once again following their group stage games in the autumn, while AS Roma face Manchester United FC, and Chelsea FC take on Valencia CF. The ties will be played on 03/04 April and 10/11 April.

Final route
Today's proceedings at the Megaron International Conference Centre in the Greek capital, featured a straight draw involving all eight clubs without seedings or country protection. As well as the quarter-finals, the draw was also made for the semi-finals, meaning teams know who they will face over two legs on 24/25 April and 01/02 May should they progress. If Chelsea and Liverpool win their ties, they will face each other in a repeat of the 2005 semi-final won by the Reds.

Trophy handover
The final will take place at the Olympic Stadium on 23 May and Athens is already looking forward to the event. The city’s mayor, Nikitas Kaklamanis, today received the European Champion Clubs' Cup from UEFA President Michel Platini after FC Barcelona's Ludovic Giuly had symbolically handed the trophy back to UEFA.

Well we were much stronger last year also, but if Real can score 4 on them then I think we can manage at least 1 (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I think we have a good chance of competing with them but winning will be extremely difficult. If we can draw them at munich we might have a chance. Winning at the sansiro is a must. PORTO respond i am extremely curious what you think of this draw and the others.

It's a bad thing we have to play at home first but I think that if we manage to get a good result in San Siro then we'll be able to get through seeing as Allianz Arena (btw what a stadium!) is not the hottest of stadia!

I hope I hope.

It's just unbelieveable we can beat Bayern in our current conditions, but I really hope.

Let's see what we can do to merda and then we'll talk.

If we could kill last years Bayern by 4 goals then we should just not even bother going down to play this worthless team this year. BUT, we aren't so hot ourselves this season, and we can't seem to score so I think it will be really tough. IF we manage to get 2 past them in the San Siro and keep a clean sheet then we'll got through but anything worse then that will see us exit the cometition.

I depends on how much Kaka wants it and how he plays. If we win it this season (highly unlikely) it would be him who took us to the title and no one else.

If Kaka is on his game against Bayern then we will go through. Also Oli needs to be given a chance to play next to Pippo in this one with out usual formation. Nesta will be back so putting in 2 DMFs won't be neccissery.

I donno i'm beginning to kind of like our 4-4-1-1 system. Ofcourse a majority of it will depend on kaka's performance but i dont think two strikers are really enough if we play with the usual. Our strikers are not that good and with two of them we still fail,so maybe with 3 we'll have a chance. Maybe this formation will work out better than the rest. 4-2-1-3. 4 defence, two defence mid 1 attacking mid 3 strikers.
