That's not mathematically impossible... it could be right but I doubt it; there's certainly something wrong with those stats!

No, it is mathematically impossible.

If they've both played the same games, the one with the highest total must have the highest average. But Inter has a lower total with a higher average. Which is not possible.

Yeah, and we've played more than 5 home games!

The average (51,000) sounds plausible, but the total (250,000) is very wrong.

Let's say the average was correct, then 51,000 x 19 home games = 969,000... which is a lot. My guess is that they didn't record figures for all the games, but just did like 5 games or so. If you go to Roster/Schedule for Milan it doesn't have attendance numbers for every game.

Could it be they record only season ticket holders? Or say only club supporters when they say total attendance? While average attendance points to the people present for each match?

I don't know if this is significant, but when I was in Milan last summer, the cab driver (an inter fan) said that many people decided against buying season tickets for 06/07 .. Because of the Calciopoli etc ... The fact that they didn't win their previous title on the field was a major turn off for Inter fans.

This is of one person's opinion, as far as I know, he has been a season ticket holder for some time, but last season, he didn't buy a season ticket and many of his (inter) friends didn't find it interesting, seeing as there was no Juve and the competition start at a disadvantage (not worth their money).

Check this one. It seems mathematically reliable. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

An average of 45,000 (55%). That is nothing short of awful.

Remember what happened after the riots in Sicily that cost the life of a policeman... it's actually a bit more than 55% as San Siro is (without the restrictions) an 80K capacity stadium minus the seats at the end of the opposition fans.

Ah yes, I'd forgot about that. It's probably around the 66%-70% mark then. Which isn't too bad I suppose.

Well, for this Calciopoli-hit season and for the football we played in the first half I guess it's a good percentage...

May Serie A see brighter days! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If Milan were holding the record for Serie A attendance, then they would proudly publish it on the official site! Since they haven't, I don't think these stats are correct.
