QUOTE (han2503 @ Sep 8 2015, 02:44 PM) Probably will only if Romagnoli gets an injury. Looks like it. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) QUOTE (han2503 @ Sep 8 2015, 02:44 PM) Mexes and Zapata did well together when given a good run of games so I'd be okay with it if Romagn gets injured and Zapata steps in Aye, I still remember that. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) One of the only few phases of relative solidity at the back. From the horrors of the start and constant changing of CBs and even full backs. I'm a guy that likes a good defense, as that is something that provides strength to the whole team and let's them focus on their tasks. And last season was horrific, save for a couple of partnerships. This was one of them. QUOTE (Danny @ Sep 8 2015, 03:12 PM) Mexes or Alex and Zaps is a partnership I'm happy with. If Romag picks up and starts to impress I'm happy with him too, but only with Mexes or Alex, and not with Zaps. I'll be down with that. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I think an old hand and a new one is our best bet. Romagnoli may be a lot of things, but experienced at this level, this big a club, he is not. QUOTE (Danny @ Sep 8 2015, 03:12 PM) I'm not comfortable with Ely anywhere on the pitch. He, for me, is a total disaster. That first match was a disaster, indeed. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) But I'll take another couple such disasters, if he learns from them quickly and finds his footing. In fact, he should be introduced after the 60 minute mark against smaller opponents, in matches where we have a comfortable lead or have sealed up proceedings. |

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Sep 7 2015, 01:55 PM) I remember you supporting Italy and Algeria at a previous World Cup. Now it's Turkey? To be honest, I quite admire Turkey and the way they approach the game. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Almost all their matches that I've seen have been entertaining, with the players giving their all. Started liking their NT after World Cup 2002 actually, or during the event, rather. They're a good watch, if not a collection of great players. |

QUOTE (Danny @ Sep 7 2015, 03:28 PM) Defence worries me. I've been on record as saying no two defenders reassure me and I stand by that. Even my personal favourite of Alex and Zaps isn't exactly Sandro and Silva. We have an utterly woeful selection of CBs. Well, it's not as bad as the (lack of creativity in our) midfield, that's for sure. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) I do hope that Romagnoli strings a partnership with someone at the back, and with DeScig and Abate covering the flanks, we will stay solid, if not watertight. That's my hope, though, and a lot of this comes down to whether Romagnoli delivers. If not, then yes, we're in trouble just like last season when it comes to the central pairing. QUOTE (Danny @ Sep 7 2015, 03:28 PM) Yeah, goalie and attack is great. It's all the stuff in between that ain't. True, been a while since we've had a good striker, to be honest. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Far too much has beens and players on decline in the past few seasons, so hopefully, action at both ends of the pitch will be a lot more enjoyable from now on. In particular, our goal scoring. I need that. |

QUOTE (han2503 @ Sep 7 2015, 12:48 PM) Are you talking 80m before or after taxes though? 80m before, of course. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) A couple more quality signings, say two or three world class player, and this current wage bill swells to this amount. Get in some real top talent, and we can cross the three figure mark. Something that wins us the league, and also the Champions League. That said, I do believe, this is going to be gradual process, say two seasons, provided we go the right way. QUOTE (han2503 @ Sep 7 2015, 12:48 PM) Becuase for us to have a truely top side, we'd probably need to shell out over a 100m in total for wages. Probably around 110 - 120m. Agreed. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) That gets us some of the more high profile names on the market. |

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Sep 7 2015, 04:49 AM) لو دامت لغيرك ما اتصلت إليك Neat proverb! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/friends.gif) Got it nice and fine. Thanks for the share! QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Sep 7 2015, 04:49 AM) I didn't know you read Arabic Oh, but I do. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) Lots and lots of it. In fact, I'm good with a number of languages, in varying quality (some in reading comprehension, others I can converse in, and a couple that I just barely find my way through). Arabic and Farsi (Persion) I'm pretty decent in, partly because both make up the majority of Urdu. And plus, I've spent two decades and regularly visit the Middle East. |

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Sep 7 2015, 04:10 AM) An Arab proverb "if it was always with others, you would never have received its benefit'. Somethings are lost in translation, but the idea is; had Madrid always won the European cup Milan and co would not have gotten a chance. In Arabic or it didn't happen. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) Besides, I read Arabic much better than I speak it, so if it is possible for you, then write the proverb here, and I'll see if something is lost in translation or not. QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Sep 7 2015, 04:10 AM) I like it that way, it gives flavor to the good times. That's my opinion at least You're right in that sense, but I always want the National Team coaches to put out the best possible players they can in all matches. I don't know about others, but these matches are a matter of prestige, maybe even more than club football. Partly because it's yearly, and major tournaments are few and far between. But when I see politics, and NT coaches playing favorites, that's just bad man. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I don't quite see that happening in Italy to that extent, as to what's going on in Brazil right now. Win or lose is another matter entirely, but fielding players that have not earned the call, ahead of those that deserve it, that's just painful. For me, it is. |

QUOTE (han2503 @ Sep 7 2015, 01:51 AM) Never had to pay that much. 160m for example was the amount we paid with taxes included. Gazzetta always list the amount the players make after taxes but the total they put up top is the amount the club pays overall - including taxes Sneaky bastards. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Never noticed. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) Makes sense, though, because when Ibra was here, we had started on our austerity measures and clean up the mess that started after our 2007 CL win. But all things considered, while I like this current overlay, it's going to jump by a steady amount if we sign more talent. Say, something around 80m for a side with top world class players, will be okay, if the results start arriving. |

QUOTE (William405 @ Sep 7 2015, 12:28 AM) Nah, it's 101. You should take into account taxes. GdS reporting it's 101 million. Well, of course, we have to fork out around 101 million to end up at 50.36 for these tax dodgers. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) It's been always the case, ever since the 50% tax rate was implemented in Italy. Back then we had to pay 320m or 260m to cover our salaries, hence our red accounts and early losses. |

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Sep 6 2015, 11:53 PM) And cheers. Nothing to it. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sleepysmiley03.gif) And aye, that's a massive decline from the 160m, or even the 130m that we were paying to plays. In hindsight that seemed a bit high back then, but only because some heavy contracts were handed to a few individuals that did not deserve it. Others did, the likes of Ibra, Silva and Nesta. I believe we will see minor increases for some of our current players if they keep on performing, and we achieve our objectives of Europa and then Champions League entry. But so far, so good. |

QUOTE (han2503 @ Sep 4 2015, 10:30 PM) I personally cringe at seeing the likes of Eder, Candreva, Pele, Bertolacci, etc playing for Italy Imaging how I feel when I see the hacks that play for Brazil these days. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) And the fudgers that coach them, that always give preferential treatment to players from big clubs in Europe, instead of of those with talent, effort and local fan following behind them. Point being, Italy may be in a bad state right now, but Brazil is worse. |

QUOTE (milanbuf88 @ Sep 4 2015, 05:10 PM) The actions will take time. There is no magic wand here. Signs in our next match will do. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) The last thing our new coach needs is to leave it too late, which in our case might mean never. The team needs some positive belief to build upon, to carry them forward. And if he has to instill (or should it be said install) it, then the sooner we see some results the better. Countless times, in our past few seasons, with different coaches, we've played well in patches, and bad in stretches. |

QUOTE (Fillipo Simone @ Sep 4 2015, 02:20 PM) It is a difference, surely. If it's positive, well, I'm yet not sold on it. Aye, words before action, so far! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) I'm liking the words, but would love seeing some action now. |

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Sep 3 2015, 12:52 AM) Ditto. For me, the guy had more class than any of Pirlo, Xavi, Iniesta etc. Aye, they don't make them like him anymore. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Even though he was here towards the end of his career, he always put in a good show, knew when his time was up and said goodbye. His time at Fiorentina, though, man, that was something else entirely, and same goes for his stint with the Portugal National Team. Right up there with the best, and I'm just glad he player for us, played with our best. |

He isn't that bad of a player, thats why. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Had a whole bunch of horrific lapses in concentration and errors in defensive judgments, but there was a time when he seemed like he had potential. Heck, dst once thought fairly highly of him. That's when he played alongside Maldini and Nesta. Sadly that was to be his peak, one feels. Wish him best of luck, nevertheless, was never a bad guy to begin with, not a troublemaker or a fire starter, the likes of which we have been treated to recently. |

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Sep 2 2015, 11:14 PM) Zapata gets too much shtick in here. He's not so bad. Oh no, he isn't. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) It's his brain freeze moments, which are at least one per match, that get me. Were it not for them, he would be an okay member to have in the team. At least, better than Kevin Constant as a player. But his moments have cost us in the past, and continue costing us points or goals. |
