This is what happened back in 2006

Fifa allows Webster to join Wigan

And this is the verdict that came out a couple of days ago:
QUOTE
On the 30th of January 2008, the Court of Arbitratiion for Sport put out a press release stating that Hearts are to be awarded £150,000 for Websters breach of contract. This amount is to be paid by Webster to Hearts. The arbitration board have reduced the compensation from previous amount of £625,000 that Hearts appealed against. This ruling is likely to have ramifications for the international transfer market, however not to the level of those felt by the Bosman ruling.

It's said that this case means that transfer fees will be significantly lowered in the next years while footballers will have more freedom.

This ruling is a complete joke IMO. What are contracts good for if you can just ignore them?

I agree. A contract is now like a promise or something...

Yep, it's stupid really.

Especially when he said the reason he wanted to leave was because he wanted to play in England. Where does he play now? Rangers. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
