I rather look forward to the duels between Capello and the tabloid media.

For the record, my money's on Capello. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Harry Redknapp brands Fabio Capello's appointment as England manager as completely unnecessary. He says: "Do you have to be a super-coach to manage England? Does Steven Gerrard need coaching? Of course not. Or Ashley Cole, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Micah Richards, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney?"

C'mon, Harry. Tell us how you really feel. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

(IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) He's angry because his English pride is hurt. He can't admit that most of the English coaches are mediocre, and people who are making the decisions over there understood that they need somebody world class, with tons of experience, with superior tactical knowlege and with winner mentality.

Exactly, Harry, we all know that Gerrard, Lampard , Terry... are world calss so why they couldn't bring that abilities to the NT? Or some mediocre manager like you, who haven't coached one 'big' team can? Go and see Capello trainings. Maybe you'd learn something.

(IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) This is probably the most stupid thing I've ever heard... it's so stupid it makes me feel stupid for even bothering to comment on it!!!

But since I took the time, here's a thought: If the coach is not a problem then the failure to qualify for the Euro '08 finals is the players' fault... they're simply not good enough. Or is it the sun's fault for shining? Then why did we bother going into it in the first place... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Just learn to like it Mr. Redknapp! Get off your ignorant, xenophobic and arrogant vehicle and open your eyes... for God's sake are humans still as stupid as this ape!??

Harry Redknapp is a liar, a cheat and sounds like he's very jealous, too. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I agree that our players don't needing coaching as such, because they've shown there ability they have at club level, we've just got to find a way to get that play to the International scene.

But Redknapp should get back to where he belongs, prison.

Totti: Capello Is A Winner

Roma talisman Francesco Totti says that the England national team have found themselves a “winner” in appointing Fabio Capello as manager.

Totti played under Capello during the tactician’s tenure with the Giallorossi, leading the club to its first league championship in 18 years in 2001.

"England will be far more competitive with this coach," Totti told the Daily Mirror.

"With Capello on the bench, England would not have lost those games with Russia and Croatia.

"I don't know how Capello will succeed with England or whether he will be popular, but he will not mind as long as he wins.

"The players will now be under a different character. He's strong, determined and has had success wherever he's gone."

Capello has coached four of Europe’s biggest clubs during his career – AC Milan, Real Madrid, AS Roma and Juventus – and he has won league titles at every one of them.

"He's a winner, a total winner. He has style but his only objective is the victory for his team. Capello is only concerned about winning and he is not preoccupied by the opinion of the fans or the press," Totti continued.

"Fabio was always a hard type of manager," Totti said.

"He was always the general and the players were his soldiers.

QUOTE
The Football Association have warned that England will not suddenly become world beaters following the appointment of Fabio Capello.

The Italian was officially unveiled as England manager on Monday, but FA chief executive Brian Barwick and director of football development Sir Trevor Brooking have stressed that there is plenty of hard work to come.

Barwick and Brooking were the men charged with finding a successor to Steve McClaren following the failure to qualify for Euro 2008 and the pair insist Capello is well aware of the task in front of him.

"There is no triumphalism," said Barwick. "Fabio Capello knows he has a serious job to do. This is a team that has not qualified for the European Championships."

International force

And Brooking echoed Barwick's conclusion when asked about the process of transforming England into an international force.

"We are not getting carried away by the thought that suddenly, because we have Fabio, we will become world beaters, because we will not," added Brooking.

"We have not won anything for 40 years. Let us not expect him to suddenly win us two big championships.

"We cannot sit back and think everything is rosy. What we have to do is try to get the best out of that group of players."

Attitude

Barwick also highlighted the importance of a long-term strategy for the England team ahead of the qualification campaign for the 2010 World Cup and defended the decision to appoint a foreign manager.

"Fabio has a job to do in terms of mental attitude and what happens when the players cross the white line," he continued.

"We are not just going for a quick-fix. We have a guy who is committed to turning the situation round.

"When I wrote out the template for what makes an England manager and put that template against our current crop of English managers, not all those boxes are ticked.

"The top teams do not employ English managers and haven't done for some time. It has to be our ambition to appoint an English manager but we have to be realistic."

Sky Sports

I don't think Barwick understands this sport very well. Of course we dont expect Capello to win anything, I'll be shocked if he did. There can only be 1 winner at a tournement and when you play every tournement against Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Spain and Portugal, it makes it tough to ever win anything, the fact that we've won 1 World Cup ever is a huge accomplishment.

If Capello takes us to a quater-finals, I'm happy. Anything more than that's a bonus, to be in the last 4 when there's 6/7 really good European sides around to go with Brazil/Argentina is very impressive.

Then again, if he doesn't win the friendly against Scotland next year, he'll have a hard time of it with the press!

QUOTE
With his feet barely under the desk at Soho Square, it has emerged that new England boss Fabio Capello is under investigation for tax fraud.

Capello insists his affairs are in orderIn Italy, such financial probes - particularly of leading sporting figures - are not unusual.

The skier Alberto Tomba, motorbike champion Valentino Rossi, and even Diego Maradona have had their finances probed by the authorities.

But it is an interruption that Fabio Capello and the England set-up could do without.

Scott Gilbert, a tax expert specialising in investigation work, agrees the process is a definite distraction.

He said: "You're meeting advisers, gathering paperwork, filling out forms, and meeting the tax inspectors.

"And it's also very worrying for people to find themselves under investigation. I would say it's inevitable that someone would be distracted by it."

Phillip Dearden, a specialist at financial experts PKF on the Isle of Man, agrees.

"It is quite stressful, and clients being investigated do sometimes endure sleepless nights even if they have nothing to hide," he said.

Capello himself is said to be "relaxed and confident" that the Italian authorities will discover nothing amiss.

The Football Association remained on message, describing the inquiry as an "assessment", not an investigation.

So far, so good.

Capello in his Juventus daysBut Capello has fallen foul of the Italian taxman before.

In 2003, he accepted a plea-bargain deal with taxmen and escaped with a £3,000 fine.

For tax purposes, Capello had registered himself as resident at an apartment in the Swiss tax haven of Campione D'Italia.

When questioned, he admitted he couldn't even remember the address.

In recent years, it's become depressingly familiar for England football coaches to be tripped up, not by results on the pitch, but by events off it.

Venables' image was tarnishedA cursory glance down the list of past incumbents reveals a roll-call of men undone variously by mental fragility, sexual indiscretion, dubious personal beliefs, and financial suspicion.

Terry Venables took England to the semi finals of Euro '96 but quit immediately afterwards when the FA refused to renew his contract.

Allegations of financial impropriety from his days in charge of Tottenham Hotspur made the FA's position a difficult one.

If such matters were proved with Venables in post, it would certainly reflect badly on his bosses.

In the end, it wasn't until 1998 that Venables, in a joint statement with the Department of Trade and Industry, accepted 19 charges of serious misconduct in his business affairs.

He agreed to pay £500,000 costs and was banned from holding company directorships until 2005.

There is no suggestion that Fabio Capello has acted illegally.

But an inquiry which could take months or even years to resolve will do little to reassure those who expect a single-minded approach to the England job.

Sky News

It doesn't sound as bad as it did when I frst heard it, but as usual, the England manager can't keep his mind on just the football side of things. This is exactly what the FA didn't need. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
