Costacurta: Kaka did it for Milan
Tuesday 9 June, 2009
Legendary Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta believes Kaka decided to join Real Madrid for the good of the Rossoneri.

The Spanish giants formally announced the signature of Kaka early this morning for a figure in the region of £60m.

“It's a painful decision but Milan will find a great substitute. Kaka did not want to go away,” Costacurta told Sky Italia.

“He is an intelligent lad and he accepted his fate for the good of Milan, finding motivation in a new adventure.

“The choice to sell Kaka inserts itself into a phase of transition for Milan that will carry the Rossoneri to other great successes,” Costacurta concluded.

Milan are certainly in a state of flux at the moment, having watched Carlo Ancelotti leave for Chelsea, Paolo Maldini retire and Kaka leave.

Perez: Kaka will be our new Zidane

Tuesday 9 June, 2009

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is delighted to have signed Kaka and believes he can be the club's new Zinedine Zidane.

Los Merengues bought the 27-year-old Brazil international for £56m, which apparently falls short of the world record transfer fee they paid for Zidane in 2001 because of changes in the currency exchange.

Perez revealed to La Gazzetta dello Sport he first started dreaming of making Kaka a Real Madrid player in the middle of April.

“Kaka was my first objective and then I called Adriano Galliani, with whom I have had a great relationship for many years.

“I said to him that I was willing to buy Kaka, if there was the possibility and in the end we have found ourselves together.”

Perez also insisted Kaka wanted to come to Real despite his very public desire to stay with Milan.

“I did not speak with him, but with his father. I only saw Kaka once two or three years ago, when I was Milan's guest for a Champions League game at San Siro.

“I went in the dressing room and everyone kissed me, even Kaka. I understand that he would have liked to stay with Milan because Milan are a great club.

“But he always said that if Milan were to leave him free, he would prefer to come to Real Madrid.

“I believe that it is good business for everyone. After some years it is right to change. It happened like this for Zidane and now the same thing happens for Kaka.”

Perez also moved to reassure Milan fans that they would have a great team to support next season despite Kaka's absence.

“According to what Galliani has told me, the fans should be calm because next year Milan will have a great team, despite the departure of Kaka.

“In the end Juventus reinforced themselves after the sale of Zidane. And, actually, you know what I say? Milan will return to be a protagonist in Europe and my dream is a challenge between Real Madrid and Milan next year in the final that we will play here.”

When asked if Kaka could become the new Alfredo Di Stefano, Perez replied: “Di Stefano is sacred, a piece of history.

“To me, it's enough he becomes the new Zidane, with his No 5 jersey, capable of making us win a 10th European Cup, after the ninth conquered with that great goal of Zidane in 2002.”

Perez also reacted to speculation suggesting Zidane had advised him to buy Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic instead of Kaka.

“I don't know why Zidane said this, I am a friend of Massimo Moratti, but we have never spoken about Ibrahimovic.

“I can only say that he is a great player and that Real Madrid like great players. Barcelona make me scared, with or without Ibrahimovic,” he concluded.

Galliani better put his money where his mouth is. losing Kaka and Gouruff in the same transfer window and replacing the former with Dinho will hardly make us a better team.

Real Madrid Must Be Grateful To Galliani For Kaka Signing - Perez

The Madrid president has spoken about Kaka and also Ronaldo...

Florentino Perez has insisted that Real Madrid must be "grateful" to AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliano for allowing them to sign Kaka.

The Brazilian midfielder has joined Madrid in a deal reported to be worth €67.2 million, and which will see him stay at the Bernabeu for at least six years.

Speaking to Telemadrid about the signing, Perez assured that negotiations were "harder than it seems" and added "Galliani is a man of his word and he maintained it despite other offers".

He also thanked the AC Milan vice-president for his role in the deal, saying that "Madrid have to be grateful to Galliani for the signing of Kaka".

As well Kaka, the Madrid president also spoke about Cristiano Ronaldo, reiterating that he does want him at the club, saying that the Portuguese maestro "is a player who would fit in at Real Madrid".

Finally, Perez was asked about the possibility of signing a player from Valencia this summer, stating that "one must wait and see the project which Valencia have and then decide".

Sheva and his learning English, now Kaka and financial difficulties.

I'd like to see the next Milan great actually tell the truth for once when he plans to leave the club.

You mean you think Kaka is not telling the truth when he says he'd have preferred to stay but left because it was for the best?

If Kaka wanted to leave for the sake of helping Milan out financially, he'd have bit the bullet and gone to Man City in January.

^^ Your logic makes no sense to me because that would've been stupidity, not loyalty and helping out... why would Kaka want destroy his career by doing something like that? he went to Real for a world record fee and both him and the club are satisfied now.

And didn't you say yesterday that City's 100m million offer didn't exist and it was in fact 50m? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

fellow milan brothers and sisters, i'm numb. i can feel neither joy nor sadness. I'm caught in this horrible cycle of shock, denial, realization, depression, and then as soon as I think i need to move on i become numb again.

Having Kaka at AC Milan was a source of pride for me. Kaka was more than just a good footballer, he's the kind of person that deserves the stature he's achieved. He truly was the kind of player you never sell cuz there is no price you can put on a role model like him.

It's weird cuz Kaka is the first player that I feel i've really grown up with. When he was signed 6 years ago I was 16, and only really coming into my own as far as footballing knowledge goes. After only his first 2 seasons i was already telling all of my Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Zidane crazed friends that KAKA was simply a few years away from reaching their stature. I remember getting my first kaka jersey (i think i was one of the first i'd ever seen to have a kaka shirt at the time), and joking to my friend wearing his madrid zizou jersey that the player on my back would be every bit as good as the player on his back.

And so when kaka put our team on his shoulders and lead us to glory and his own golden ball victory, i really shared in his celebration. I wanted him to be our captain. Captain Kaka sounded so right. His heartwarming smile, his big heart, his outlook on life, and most of all his HUMILITY is unique, and not found in an athlete of his stature on the world stage. Now it sickens me to think that when his career is done and dusted, he may just achieve greater heights, and play longer in a jersey that is not ours.

i for one was a supporter of carlo's exit, yet I felt shock to see him lifting a chelsea jersey. I only hope there's a trash can near me the first time I see him in a madrid jersey, cuz there's no doubt i'm going to have a physical, sick reaction. i did the second I read him saying "i hope to end my career in madrid"

Ricky said a deal had been in place for a long time. He never wanted to leave, but the decision was made before this infamous "phone conversation". Berlu and Galliani lied to us, and strung us along for the sake of keeping our anger in check until we were just depressed/defeated by the sudden news.

bye ricky. ti amo.

..didn't even feel like adding smileys.

a week ago if I heard we were negotiating for dzeko and not ade i would have gone bonkers. For the next couple days I couldn't care less what we do. kaka is gone. and not even 24 hrs after that announcement, Pato says he's going to talk to carlo before committing to us, CUD U AT LEAST GIVE US 24 HRS to grieve Alex?!

numb.

The initial bid for Kaka was 50m, which was initially reported as double that on Mediaset before the price actually increased to that amount not long before talks ended.

Look..it's a bit of both.

Kaka left both for his career and because he understood that it was best for the club. It was the middle path. He could have done what's best for the club and gone to Man City, but he has himself to look out for.

In any case in Madrid, he earns more than he does in Milan and it's his number 2 club.

And some iota of respect for Galliani and co. they could have done what Juve did to Zambrotta. Basically after everything between Zambrotta and Milan have been set, turn around and sell him to the higher bidder - Barca. But they did figure that Milan owed that much to Kaka to sell him to a club of his choice. (Yes monetary factors were important, but not everything).

I'm not all shattered. Part of it maybe because Kaka's not my favourite player. That's who I'am. I've never rated players who depend on speed all that highly (until I met a certain Serginho)- they get injured too often and their game drops off.

We were all in arms about the Sheva deal, but he went to Chelsea-declined and has never made it back up. I love Sheva, but as a neutral I have to admit that Galliani made a very good deal when he sold Sheva. At that time the understanding was Kaka would be there to replace Sheva's absence and the management were proved right in 2007. So I think I'll keep faith when they say that Kaka's absence won't rip the team apart.

Don't forget while Kaka was more known for his professionalism and integrity than any leadership (like Rino,Paolo,Ambro) so we'll only be affected tactically. I actually believe R80 will be a good fit, with a little tweak in the game play.

I think Bluey's hit the right sentiment. It's sad for the fans, but it was a decision that had to be made.

Kaká has barely uttered three words of thanks to Milan and the fans. Diego Milito cried at his last game for Genoa and wrote a beautiful letter to the fans displaying his love and affection for them, and saying he wished to look every Genoa fan in the eyes, thank them, and hug them. Where is this kind of affection from Ricky??

Oh, and he professed he wanted to stay at Milan for the rest of his career and be captain, that he had eyes only for Milan. But today, gushing over his new contract with the evil empire (Real), he came out and said that his 6 year contract he would like to see extended to 8 so he could finished his career at Madrid. If he loved us so much wouldn't he wish to return to Milan to end his career here, the club that made him famous, the club he said he was forever loyal to?

I'm sorry, I'm not buying it.

Please don't hate me for criticizing Kaká (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) I know I'm new to this forum but have been a club loyalist for years.

Forza Milan! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devilsmiley.gif)

So if your parents are finding it hard to take care of you, so they ask you to go find a job, and an opportunity to traffic bodies across the border waz paying big bucks, would you take the job because it was paying really well, or wait for something you were more inclined to do, say I don't know a regular office job, or buger king [take your pick]

...I'm just saying - after all, we all have our own opinions right?! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
