QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Aug 31 2014, 09:37 AM) I can see why 3 coaches in a row (assuming Pippo does) have picked Muntari. A lot don't rate him, but he covers a lot of distance. I'm sure some will come back with the overreaction that it's pointless running, but it's not, he chases down and hassles opponents.
De Jong, Montolivo, Poli, etc. aren't exactly renowned for their energy in midfield. There's a lack of muscle/running without someone like Muntari and it's why until we bring in that type of midfield, he is there to stay. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) The laziest player I've probably ever seen wearing a Milan shirt, and we've had Ronaldo and Ronaldinho in this last era of players, that should tell you something! What running does he do exactly? He spends more time jogging around level with the attackers than actually hassling opposing players or helping out the midfield. Poli and Monto do much better and crucial defending than he does, and he's supposed to be the more "defensively inclined" midfielder in the trio. It goes without saying that De Jong simply eclipses anything Muntari could ever hope to do in terms of providing midfield cover for the defence and carrying the ball forward. And when he does try to do defensive work, he tackles badly and consistently makes stupid fouls in dangerous areas. Btw, it was only Allegri who ever really used him regularly, even when he had other option available he tended to prefer him, Seedorf only used him when Monto or De Jong were out, he even used Essien ahead of him at times. And so far with Pippo we cannot really tell as the midfield is threadbare and the only options currently available to Pippo are either him or Essien, I can only guess that he's picking the lesser of two evils for him, although I'd still pick Essien over this complete liability any day of the week. And what we need in midfield is not a hassle type of player or any form of physical/defensive midfielder. We need a creator desperately, especially with Monto out

So you guys tell me someone with who you disagree is annoying you and find the answer in personal attacks?
I'm ashamed of this place right now.

QUOTE (Danny @ Aug 31 2014, 02:39 PM) That would be Balo. Balo's laziness is different, he's only lazy when he's in a petulant mood, but when he's on, he fights for every ball. Muntari is a constant type of lazy, I've sometimes even noticed him jogging lazily back when we're being countered on and everyone is busting their @sses off to get back

Line-Up: Diego Lopez; Abate, Zapata, Alex, Bonera; Poli, De Jong, Muntari; Honda, Menez, El Shaarawy.
at least no Bonera at CB, still strange that he'd choose Zapata over Rami, that's asking for trouble, wonder why he didn't start Armero and went for Bonera at LB. That left side in defence and midfield is bursting with so much talent...

QUOTE (TriniKing_CE @ Aug 31 2014, 04:13 PM) I am confused with that defence selection. Yeah it's strange, but at least it should be more solid, Armero is a bit of a defensive liability imo. We'll see how we do, Zapata concerns me more than Bonera as Bonera usually does ok in the FB positions

(IMG: style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Abate, Zapata & Bonera are all known for their lapses in concentration, and then there's Alex who did not impress defensively in preseason. We'll see though... For now I'm just happy the season is about to start back for us! Forza Milan!!!

Agreed, not that I like the player, would have preferred X, Y and Z ... But as you stated unless we bring someone to fill the role, he is a starter. ----------------- Less than an hour to go, bein is hooked up and im very excited to see Inzaghi in his new adventure. Forza Milan! Forza SuperPippoInzaghi (IMG: style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)
