QUOTE (han2503 @ May 5 2024, 05:52 PM) If we can get a coach who is capable of getting the best out of Chukwueze and Leao .i.e we play in a way that releases them from the constant double marking. Watch out.
Chuku is finally showing that he can ball. Too bad Pioli never really gave him a chance. Puli is good in the centre as well, but unless we get in a decent DM, we should not be playing 4 attackers out there against any half decent side You're strong still watching Milan games. I gave up after the derby. Regarding Leao, we should sell. He's not the right player to build your ambitions around. The guy may have talent, but this is not the right environment for him. He's wasting his and our time. Just ship him off to PSG or someplace, grab 70-80 mil and invest. Rumours about Theo having accepted terms with Bayern. Hope it's BS. |

QUOTE (han2503 @ Apr 7 2024, 04:09 PM) I would assume that he will go Isma-Reijnders against Roma, he just rotated Isma out since he's more delicate than Tijjani.
As for the defence, I hope It's Gabbia-Kjaer. Gabbia has been great since coming back, especially when playing next to Kjaer. On the other hand, Thiaw has looked like he needs to relearn how to play football again since coming back from injury. The f@ck ups he's committing are truly bad. And Gabbia loses all his confidence when playing with him as well. So Kjaer is the obvious choice there and I assume is why he was given a few minutes yesterday as well. Yeah, but I think Thiaw is a better match-up for Lukaku. |

QUOTE (han2503 @ Apr 6 2024, 04:08 PM) Assist aside, he's always underwhelming to me.
His supposed best trait is his passing, and he rarely opens up play, switches play with quick/long passes. Always goes the easy route, holds the ball for far too long and makes dangerous speculative decisions, especially when playing so deep. Today he didn't even make those dangerous decisions. He limited himself to the simple short pass. I must have counted 7-8 occasions when his teammates were in good positions and he didn't even bother. Underwhelming. Against Roma we must start with Bennacer-Reijnders. Isma too must give himself a wake up call cos he's been very meh lately. Too bad we'll miss Tomori due to suspension. I reckon it'll be Gabbia with their Thiaw (injured today) or Kjaer. |

QUOTE (han2503 @ Mar 31 2024, 06:22 PM) The issue with Maignan for example is that we have to renew his deal this summer or he should be sold. He wants big wages and he's had issues with his performances this season, not to mention he's had one big injury each season he's been with us.
We cannot give him more than Leao/Theo imo. A GK can be replaced and is not worth f@cking up the entire salary structure over.
We might be in a healthy situation now, but things could easily slide if we are not vigilant. I'd personally sell Mike this summer if he does not renew by August.
We can think big while also being realistic, a relegated side in the PL will make more this season than Inter who will win the Serie A.
Tonali last summer was a smart decision, we can do the same with another player this summer. Otherwise we're not going to spend like we did last summer
I agree, the core is good, and we must renew Theo's deal at all costs, but we need to sign a top CF and a top DM next summer imo, and those are 2 of the most expensive positions to fill in football.
I think a DM is far more important than a RB, but that's just me. We lost points in games like the ones against Napoli and conceded so many goals this season because we do not have a proper DM who can control the play. Bennacer has not been the same since coming back, we have to be honest with ourselves on that one, plus he's very injury prone and not dependable. Again, you're not considering the fact they we don't need to sell. Forget the rumours about Maignan wanting insane wages. It was confirmed that was all BS. His demands are around 6M, we can easily reach an agreement at 5.5M like with Leao. And yes, he hasn't been superb this season, but he's still one of the best GK's in the world and last night's game confirmed it. This new ownership keeps talking about wanting to win, about wanting to bring back the CL. Well, to do that first and foremost you keep your best players. And I disagree about the DM situation. Sure I wouldn't say no to a quality DM, but on the right we are in catastrophic conditions and that needs to be fixed ASAP. Bennacer is coming from a serious injury, I can accept him not being in top form. But his qualities are unquestionable and as a metronome+ball winner he's one of the best in the league. PS: I wouldn't be surprised if we sold Tonali because we knew of his gambling problems and that we would lose him for a full year. QUOTE (han2503 @ Mar 31 2024, 06:22 PM) You know I have been a huge proponent to the PioliOut brigade, but I must confess that I've been re-thinking my position on that. The managerial marry-go-round this summer is going to be ridiculous, with many top teams potentially looking to change managers (Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Bayern, Juve). I don't think we can be competitive in that market. Pioli has made me insanely angry for a while now, but he seems to have held the team together and kept the players behind him even through the real worst of times.
We're improving in our play and our form has been impeccable since the turn of the year, the only blemish being that Monza game where Jovic f@cked us over.
I think if the management give him a top CF and a DM, we'll be very competitive with him as our coach next season
Inter have been unreal this year, I think the season they're having is a one off. Yes, we f@cked up games we shouldn't have, and once again we were in an injury crises of our own making which contributed to said f@ck ups.
But, we made a lot of changes this summer an Pioli took it in stride and matched his best season with us so far, which ended with a title.
Pioli will still be under contract next season, I think we should let him have another season, with the right upgrades, I think he can deliver again.
And I never thought I'd say this after January 2023 Nah man, you're letting the results get to your head. As I said this team is full of problems. And Pioli has ended his cycle. Guys like Conte or Thago Motta would bring so much more to the table. It's time to part ways. |

Pioli said something yesterday after the match which is very true. We have 14 points of gap with Inter. This whole difference was generated in late October / early November, when we played 4 consecutive games and made only 2 points: Juventus (L), Napoli (D), Udinese (L) and Lecce (D). Inter instead made 4/4, thus 12 points. That's your 10 points of difference, which adding the derby loss gives you 13 points out of the 14.
Because other than that we have made a very good run, it must be said. I don't like the sort of football we play, I don't like the attitude of our players most of the time, we're not consistent and our defensive game is a mess. But still we've collected 65 points which if I'm not mistaken is on par or even better than our scudetto season.
It really sucks because we conceded the scudetto win to Inter very easily. We could have put a very good challenge, there were no other opponents. But we fumbled like a bunch of losers and that's why Pioli needs to go. |

We wouldn't have to sell any of the big 3 though, that's the thing. Because we don't have to. We don't need money. We have zero debts, and we even ended last year with a positive net result. Our financial situation is excellent.
It's time we started thinking big. And by big I mean keep all of our good players and strengthen the squad in the weak areas.
We need AT ALL COST a quality RB and a quality CF. Then of course adjust things here and there, like get rid of Chukweuze and maybe sign a better winger, sign a bench CF (Jovic is not good enough, Giroud will leave), replace Kjaer etc. But our core is strong.
Maignan, Tomori, Thiaw, Theo, Reijnders, Bennacer, Musah, Loftus, Leao, Pulisic, Okafor. These are all young and quality players that should be kept as the foundation of the new Milan. I'd even throw in guys like Gabbia and Adli for good measure.
Of course for this to finally take off the first and most important step would be to get rid of Pioli and sign a top coach. |

It was a disastrous performance. Many players simply not bothering at all. Aside from Reijnders and Pulisic, everyone else was snoozing. And we conceded 2 goals against a 10-man Slavia FFS!
We're not gonna win this tournament, let's be honest. Many other sides are better than us.
I can't wait to have Pioli gone, as I'm sure this team will be revamped under a new capable coach. Look at Roma! They looked dead with Mourinho, but De Rossi has transformed them into an entirely new animal in a month. And it's De Rossi, not Guardiola. Just goes to show how important the coach figure is in a club. Not just tactically, but also as a motivating factor. I'm convinced many players in this team just have abandoned Pioli, and management knows this. |
