QUOTE (zdrossoneri @ Apr 21 2008, 04:25 PM) (?) I don't know about this game but I've seen him like that numerous times! he DOES make big mistakes every few games. but one thing is certain, he almost always steps up against big teams. No player can give you 100% ... All players loose some concentration at some point. You can say the same about Dida, Maldini, Oddo, Gattuso, Kaka, Seedorf, Pirlo ... Does that make them bad players ?! Regardless, football fans will always find a flaw and focus their criticism towards it. It is inevitable, but he did have a brilliant game ! When we were at 2-1, he made two clearances in one instant, and one of them was right in the face of goal.

Of course no player can always give 100%, but there are players who give an average of 95% in every game [Like Maldini], and there are those who give something around 75%, like Kaladze. he has made more mistakes than a top defender playing for #1 club in the world is supposed to. that's MY opinion.

That's blasphemy! (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) Maldini gives 100% against any and every team, even when he's of touching forty. I've seen him in more than a few matches, and he was giving (or trying to give) his best even against mid-low table teams in Serie A. Football is like a passion for guys like him and Ronaldo - that's the reason they've been playing for so long. Or else they'd have retired ages ago with their millions of dollars in the bank. Guys like Nesta, Costacurta give 95%, Kaladze over 80%, and someone like Favilli around 70%. That's all hypothetically speaking, of course. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Apr 21 2008, 07:06 PM) Just try to understand that he has been at the club for a reasonable amount of time, which should indicate that he is a good defender. Maybe it is because you see Maldini or Nesta partner him, that he seems a level below. But had he been at United or Liverpool, I'm convinced he'd be one of their best (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Yeah, if he was in any club other than Milan, he'd have been one of their best defender. He doesn't stand a chance when next to Maldini, Nesta, or even Cannavaro for that matter, but on his day he can be pretty decent. The problem arises when it's not his day. QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Apr 21 2008, 06:02 PM) I dunno, there's some pretty cra@ppy defenders that stay at the top clubs for a while. Look how long Phil Neville was at United, probably over 10 years, and he was pretty awful. I was talking about Milan .. Thank you very much ! Now if we were talking about Milan or Villa, we don't talk about them in the same breath as we do to umm Birmingham, inter or United do we (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) On a serious note though. Kakha has won remarkably a lot with Milan, and I don't know how far back you have seen him play for Milan, but he was great ever since he moved from Kiev. He was an integral part of the team in lifting the cup in 2003 and is a crucial player for Milan throughout the years. At Milan he is a bench player atm, that is because when Maldini and Nesta are both available, he sits out. But had he been at Liverpool (since they wanted him), I'm sure he would be first team choice along with Cara.

QUOTE (zdrossoneri @ Apr 21 2008, 07:59 PM) OK, Maldini always gives 100%. I just wanted to be realistic, that's all! Hehe, that's okay. Realism is just something that's reserved for mortals - like you, me, and countless other professional football players. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) After individual skills, the thing that matters most if the attention span and how much a player's willing to give in each match. If someone is constantly giving 100%, in every match, they can be pretty lethal. Imagine if cyborgs or sophisticated robots were playing (in defense), it would be almost impossible to break down the defense. Granted that's an extreme example, but the thing is most good players give their 90-95% consistently, and even less so when they are playing unimportant matches. And only peak against bigger opponents. Seedorf, anyone? (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

It was wonderful to see Reggina get their clocks cleaned yesterday, but to say our future looks bright again may be premature at best.
For starters, we beat the bejesus out of a team, almost destined for the relegation scrap heap, at home. Plus, this is our fourth (!) five-goal walloping of the season, but it's regularly resulted in us putting all our eggs in one basket: In our next three games after each previous blowout, we scored two goals combined, which included a 1-0 loss to Empoli and an 0-0 home draw with Torino.
That being said, if history is any indication, I just hope we haven't rendered ourselves punchless again for Livorno.

I love Kakha....I'd love for him and MizNelson to get together. I'm planning a Baby(e) Berlusconi+Laura Esposito exchange package for Locke. And I need Kaladze out of the way.
