It just keeps getting nearer and nearer! QUOTE Ronaldinho nearing Milan switch Tue Jul 15, 2008 6:50pm BST
MILAN (Reuters) - Barcelona forward Ronaldinho is close to signing for AC Milan, the Italian club said on Tuesday.
Manchester City have also bid for the 28-year-old Brazilian, but media reports have said Milan have won the race despite offering just 18.5 million euros (14.6 million pounds), almost half as much as the Premier League club.
"There is a good chance that Ronaldinho's passage to Milan will become a reality. Only a few economic issues are left but our legal department has already prepared all the necessary documents," AC Milan lawyer Leandro Cantamessa told the club website (www.acmilan.com)
Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani has been in Barcelona for talks with the club and the player over the last two days.
"I have heard from Galliani and he is calm even if no one has yet put pen to paper. We are all waiting," Cantamessa added.
Italian media said that if the financial details were ironed out, Ronaldinho could fly to Milan later on Tuesday and be presented at the training ground on Wednesday.
Milan, who will play in the UEFA Cup this season after finishing fifth in Serie A last term, have been chasing Ronaldinho for three months and the player has consistently said a move to the San Siro appealed.
He has spent five years at the Nou Camp, helping Barca win the Champions League in 2006 and their domestic title in 2005 and 2006.
The playmaker was named FIFA World Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005 but has been told he can leave Barcelona after suffering form and fitness problems last season. Reuters Link |

QUOTE Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool and Milan have been put on alert after Daniel Alves's agent confirmed that the player could be set to leave Sevilla this summer.
The four European giants are all fans of the Brazilian star and will be monitoring the situation after Jose Rodriguez Baster 'Rodri' stated that now is the perfect time for him to step up a level.
Alves has attracted interest from across Europe with his dynamic displays for Sevilla and Rodri believes that the club should cash in now.
"This type of player always ends up moving because that is the way the market dictates it," the agent told Punto Radio.
"One has to be realistic and recognise that the best players always end up playing for the biggest clubs.
"I am not saying that Sevilla are not a big club, but they are a level behind some on both a sporting and an economic front.
"It is the right time to sell Daniel and besides, (club president, Jose Maria) Del Nido has already said that nobody is indispensable at the club.
"Daniel is happy and the president did everything when it came to renewing his contract the last time."
The 24-year-old, who is renowened for his attacking flourishes, joined Sevilla in 2002 from Bahia and won his first cap for Brazil last year. Link Hereim surprised nobody posted this yet. maybe the mystery man is Alves? i would welcome him to milan with open arms. what do you guys think? |
