This thread depresses me further. What an embarrassment.

Only thing worse would be if Rangers do get to the third round and play Milan. Please God no.

Why does it embarrass you Danny? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

Weren't you one of the few who wanted us to qualify for European football?

Personally I think this season has been a relative success considering the initial objectives we started out with. We won the Super Coppa and we made it into the EL spots (which let's face it, was the best we could have done), we also managed to finish above Inter who have spent a lot of cash while we practically spent nothing last summer.

Sure the scenes at the end of the game were over the top but you can't begrudge the players for celebrating something this club hasn't managed to achieve in 3 years. Just like you can't begrudge them for celebrating winning a trophy, no matter how insignificant you think it is

We've managed to make a big step in the right direction this season. This summer we'll be going through a lot of changes, but with the names being mentioned I think we'll have a good season.

I don't think that at this point we should be pessimistic, we're finally seeing the light at the end of a very long dark tunnel we've been stuck in for the last few years. Our season is over and we achieved our goals, that's more than good enough for me considering the serious shortcomings of this team

A club like AC Milan shouldn't celebrate 6th place like that, no matter how you look at it.

Oh come on now! Our team has been through all the mud... Let them celebrate, build some inner confidence. It's mentally very healthy after years of humiliation, misfortune and failure.

I'll take it. We've had some miserable years with nothing to be excited about. 6th place may not seem like much, but a 6th place (let's not forget, with Milan's youngest team in decades) after 3-4 years of total embarrassment, I'd say we deserve to celebrate a little bit. Just enough for us to keep the spirit of the team up for next season.

Agreed, this is like all the unnecessary anger the celebrations after the Super Coppa elicited. I don't think it should be a big deal that the players celebrate, even if the achievement is meagre in our eyes, it's still a major stepping stone for this team considering that we've been through the wringer over the last few years

What X said. You do that with your coach when he led you to the UCL trophy.

Yes. Doesn't mean the players and coach should celebrate being also-rans in such exuberant fashion.

This season has been poor.

I think you guys are just making mountain out of a mole hill.

It doesn't matter if the celebrations were a bit over the top imo. Let the players enjoy themselves, we're starting fresh next season so this doesn't bother me much.

Btw, Montella looked like he wanted to kill them when they started to pick him up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Then I guess for that to happen, we're going to have to a wait a little while. Also, these players that celebrated like we won something big, they won't be here when we do. Some of these players, this is as big as it gets for them. So I'm not surprised they celebrated the way they did.

No, I'm just trying to be realist. But it's as amancik said, for most of these players this is the maximum they will ever achieve in their careers, so I guess it's fair for them to celebrate like that. Not fair for the colors they represent and the fans, though.

Unfortunately Montella DID take part in all this and is supposed to be the guy taking us back to the big time with shiny new players. This was small time behaviour and I really wonder if he's cut out to be manager.

When I look at that photo all I can do is think Carlo. And weep softly.
