Montolivo will be out for around 6 months, according to GdS.
Milan will be compensated by FIFA for losing Montolivo for a long time. If he's out for 6 months, Milan will be paid €1.5-2m [Milannews.it]
Just read we could get upwards of 3m...
@TheMilanBible The compensation includes a daily wage of €20,548, multiplied by the number of days a player is absent for. Milan should earn around €3.5M.
I'm not going to say that this is good, because a long injury like this is always something that's sad, especially for Monto who has suffered some really terrible injuries in the last few years and they're a big reason for his major downward trajectory. And this could really hurt any ambitions on our part to sell him.
But this will open doors for Montella to try different things in midfield. Mainly to give Sosa and even Mati F. A chance in the mid when Monto was basically playing simply because of seniority at the club and the captaincy
@Jack; I'm not going to say for certain if Kucka can occupy more of a holding mid role. I just think we have players on the bench who would offer us much more creativity/vision/energy than Monto does who are being wasted so that Monto can play.
And sure Monto intercepts a lot of balls and in general has good positioning. But we simply cannot rely on him anymore to be our regista, it's simply killing our entire midfield game plan
