Actually, I'd love for him to retire and come join us in the technical director or even take up coaching role. I think this is a man who truly sees the game strategically and tactically.

I don't believe he wants to coach (at least according to what he wrote on his book)

Montolivo will be out for around 6 months, according to GdS.

Milan will be compensated by FIFA for losing Montolivo for a long time. If he's out for 6 months, Milan will be paid €1.5-2m [Milannews.it]

Just read we could get upwards of 3m...

‏@TheMilanBible The compensation includes a daily wage of €20,548, multiplied by the number of days a player is absent for. Milan should earn around €3.5M.

I'm not going to say that this is good, because a long injury like this is always something that's sad, especially for Monto who has suffered some really terrible injuries in the last few years and they're a big reason for his major downward trajectory. And this could really hurt any ambitions on our part to sell him.

But this will open doors for Montella to try different things in midfield. Mainly to give Sosa and even Mati F. A chance in the mid when Monto was basically playing simply because of seniority at the club and the captaincy

@Jack; I'm not going to say for certain if Kucka can occupy more of a holding mid role. I just think we have players on the bench who would offer us much more creativity/vision/energy than Monto does who are being wasted so that Monto can play.

And sure Monto intercepts a lot of balls and in general has good positioning. But we simply cannot rely on him anymore to be our regista, it's simply killing our entire midfield game plan

Really sad news about Montolivo. Realistically, I'd say this is the end of him being able to play at a high level. But, I'll leave that up to his persistence and dedication. Hopefully, he will be back to play.

Montella now needs to find a new formula. Interested to see what he does.

Sucks for him, but this is great news for the team.

Yup, it will force a change. Not that Montella has any real depth there, but maybe someone will step up if given a real opportunity. Also, this should force our new management to start rebuilding the midfield this Winter. One can only hope ..

(BTW, I am not a big Monto fan these days, but I do feel bad for him.)

GdS: Probable XI vs Chievo (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Abate, Paletta, Romagnoli, De Sciglio; Kucka, Locatelli, Bonaventura; Suso, Bacca, Niang.

I have a weird feeling that Poli might feature. I really miss Honda though. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

For the life of me I can't think of any reason why a person would miss Honda. He works hard but he's so terribly average to below average in every aspect. I'm hoping Locatelli gets a start and plays well. I also hope Sosa gets some playing time.

Chievo thread anyone?

Corriere della Sera: Sosa is likely to be Milan's regista against Chievo.

GdS: Bacca will return to Milano on Thursday. Montella is seriously considering to start with Lapadula against Chievo.

Marco Nosotti, Sky Sport-24: "Lapadula is very motivated, is better than in the game against Sampdoria."
