I'll give you a brief overview right now after seeing him for Juve for these last 3.5 seasons

He'll stand around like the typical flag pole poacher he is and if there should be a chance for him about 2 yards out it's a 50/50 chance of him missing completely or scoring.

Flag pole, that's what you used to call Pazzini when we signed him and he scored 15 goals for us. Look han, I was as much pissed as you were when we signed Matri, but now that he's here let's at least give the guy a fair chance before we start criticizing him.

Pazzini proved me wrong, and I've actually turned into an admirer of his, but Matri? Even when I was 100% against Pazzini I still valued him more than Matri! That should tell you something.

Matri scoring 10 goals in a season with that Juve midfield behind him? You really expect that he'll have some sort of glorious break through at Milan?

As for the flag pole, I stand by that, even for Pazzini, because that's what strikers like Matri and Pazzini do all game long. Pazzini tends to roam about a bit more and isn't afraid to actually drop a bit deep to receive the ball and he isn't completely useless with the ball at his feet. Which is what makes him somewhat ok. But even then, in today's football there's no room for players like these 2, certainly not at the highest level for a Club like Milan.

Anyway, we'll see how he does and talk about this after the game which I'm sure he'll start. He'll be our Muntari in attack YAY!

You do realise he barely played any minutes and his goal return was very good?

How about him scoring 20 for Cagliari and the Juve side you love to label "mediocre" when they finished 7th?

In his time at Juve under Conte what were his stats?

Yes last season he was in and out of the side but the 2 before that he played pretty regularly

Ironically, to dispell your "good midfield" myth, his scoring record in every way was better in 10/11 with Cagliari/bad Juve than in his past 2 seasons with Juve combined.

Pippo was the most technically unattractive player in the history of Milan, yet everyone loved him, including me.

My belief is that a striker like Matri, Pazzini, Pippo, etc barely has any value left in football, especially for big clubs, and this can only be ignored should the player have freak goalscoring stats that justify his doing nothing for 99% of the game, thus making it feel like your team has a numerical disadvantage for most of the game. Hence Pippo being so loved, because he was absolutely lethal and this negated the fact that he was a bit of a liability on the pitch when not scoring.

Also, I just think that Matri and Balo will simply be incompatible next to each other. Balo is at his best when he's the furthest guy forward, yes he can drop deep when needed but his best position is as the CF in the team. Having someone like Matri next to him instead of someone who will be mobile and playing off of him will simply not work.

Think of Cassano and Balo in the EUROs as a great example of this, also on Tuesday when Osvaldo came on, he combined well with him as Osvaldo was very mobile, always looking for spaces to run into and make himself available for the pass
