hmm... IMO football evolution through the years have made footballers much better than before so that's why there are so many active players in my list:
goalies: Buffon, Cech, Zoff defenders: Maldini, Cannavaro, Baresi midfielders: Kaka, Garrincha, Gullit ( thanks Portugal I almost forgot him ) forwards: Marco Van Basten, Baggio, Maradona

GK: Kahn, Zoff, Meier D: Maldini, Baresi, Schwarzenbeck (best CB of all times) M: Zidane, Cruijff (count him as a midfielder) Walter F: Van Basten, Mueller, Puskas
Hmmm, maybe Ricky can join the list in some years, but right know he's still developing his game. Thought about putting Arthur Friedenreich on that list too, he was a brazilian striker in the 20ies and 30ies of the 20th century, he scored more often in his career than Gerd Mueller did, and the FIFA declared him forward of the century....but since I never actually saw him play... And I thought about Helmut "Boss" rahn...great striker. Such striker don't exist anymore ("From the back comes Rahn, Rahn should shoot, Rahn shoots....GOAL GOAL GOAL!!!)

GK: Lev Yasin, Chilavert, Buffon DF: Maldini, Baresi, Cafu MF: Garrincha, Beckenbauer and Johan Cruff ST: Ronaldo, Pele and Maradona
Maybe very few of you know about Lev Yasin but I think in his position, he's the same with Pele and Ronaldino in attack line. In other way, it's very hard for us to judge the historical players.

Kohler, Arie Haan, Ruud Krol, Schwarzenbeck and those awesome Hungarian defender whose name I forgot...
