We r just one game away, with nothing to loose and everything to gain. Then if we reach Athena, there is no turning back and Istanbul will undoubtedly be on the minds of all the Rossoneri from the president to the players to the fans .. At the San Siro "party", Empoli were the victims as Inter ran out easy winners (3-1) thanks to goals from Cruz, Recoba, and Stankovic.

Inter played with their usual 4-3-1-2 system with Stankovic behind strikers Recoba and Cruz, while Empoli played a 4-4-2 with Saudati and Pozzi up front.

Recoba had one of his inspired evenings and provided the spark for the first goal, as he freed up Cambiasso with an insightful pass, and the midfielder touched the ball off his heel towards Cruz, who scored the match opener in the 27th minute.

A few minutes later the Uruguayan playmaker came up with a great shot from outside the area, but it finished on the post, and the goalkeeper robbed the rebound from Figo  in the nick of time (30').

An interesting first half, where Empoli were not afraid to go forward and leave spaces open for Inter, finished 1-0 to the home side.

In the second half, Empoli found an equaliser out of nothing in the 57th minute as Saudati fired a low, hard shot from just outside the area, which went beat Julio Cesar on his right.

However, on Inter earned a corner on their very next move. Recoba stepped up and sent it into the net straight to make it 2-1 (59') for the Nerazzurri (the goalkeeper was certainly at fault).

A minute later there was a third goal for, Inter as Stankovic was launched by Cambiasso and beat Bassi with a precise, angled shot (60').

In the 71st there was a great chance as Figo found himself alone in front of goal, but shot well over the bar.

Inter climb to 87 points, while Empoli, who offered good resistance in this match, drop to 7th place with 50 points.

De Rossi warns Roma

Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has surprisingly stated that he cannot rule out a future move away from the capital.

The world champion is a reported target for several outfits including Inter, but had always been considered an untouchable player alongside Giallorossi captain Francesco Totti.

“I would like to stay here, I like it a lot, but in football you never know what could happen,” said De Rossi after the goalless draw with Lazio on Sunday.

“I want to stay at Roma at all costs, but I can’t make any promises. Anything I say could be a double-edged sword and I don’t want to cut a poor figure.

“My will is to remain with Roma, it has always been my dream since I started playing,” said the midfielder, who is contracted to the capital city club until 2009.

“However, I wouldn’t stake my life on my future here, because there are many factors which might affect my decisions, some of them that are not under my control.

“As you all know, in football nothing can be taken for granted,” concluded De Rossi.

The player is expected to discuss an extension in the near future and reports suggest that he will probably ask for a pay rise on his current £1m-per-year deal.

Cairo wants Milanese Toro

Torino chief Urbano Cairo has called on his men to imitate Milan as they fight to secure Serie A safety.

The Granata have no option but to win against bottom of the table Ascoli on Sunday, as they lie just a point above the drop zone with only four games of the season left.

“I am not afraid of our situation, but focused on our objective,” stated Cairo on Friday afternoon.

“We have to play these last few ties with great determination, just as Milan did in their Champions League match on Wednesday against Manchester United.

“They overturned the first-leg defeat not only thanks to their qualities, which we obviously do not have, but also thanks to their heart.

“Take Gennaro Gattuso for example – if we imitate him then I am sure we can succeed,” continued the owner.

“Of course I would feel better if we had a few extra points, but now we must concentrate on playing like we did last year in the return leg of the promotion play-off match with Mantova.”

Cairo was also questioned on the future of goalkeeper Christian Abbiati, who is on loan at Torino from Milan.

“We have an option to buy him, but it is too early to talk about this issue,” he added. “We will meet up at the end of the season and if he wishes to stay in Turin he will be able to do so.

“His will is a key factor and I believe he is keen on staying with us,” concluded Cairo.

Abbiati has also been linked with a summer move to Juventus where he spent the 2005-06 season on loan.

Readinbg the paper this morning ... And in the sports section, there was this huge article about the two Milan teams ...

Basically it was comparing this season for both of the teams and the writer gave Milan the upper hand for over coming all hurdles that were throw it's way. And that Milan will be crowned in Athena. Asking because Iaquinta got one in today's Udinese game and Milan play Udinese right before the Liverpool game.
