QUOTE (Locke Lamora @ Mar 10 2007, 04:53 PM) Portugal: You seem to love Chelsea. The team who's got Drogba and Robben. So you can shut the **** up about divers. Anyway, this have been Henry's worst season by far. Injuries, injuries injuries. And to top that, he's getting criticized for just about everything. But look at the team Arsenal is building. In a couple of years, they will dominate Premier League, and maybe Europe. At least I hope so... Lastly, Portugal, show SOME respect. You refuse to admit ANY faults with your chosen teams, and rejoice when a player who has given football so much suffers a horrendous injury that keeps him out for at least 3 months. You don't like him, okay, but show him some respect. U seem to defend Arsenal too often ... I think it is to the extent that, had arsenal progressed in the CL and faced Milan, u would side with arsenal. I like Henry, he has class, but he hasnt won much in his career .. I mean the WC ? that was Zidane's doing ... The EPLs, I think they were just two or three .. But what else (major) did he win ?! He will fade away like Cantona did, when he retieres. Ohh btw, I like how Arsenal play football, but I despise the way the think they should be above Man U and Liverpool ... How can they ? those two teams have won more seperatly than arsenal could endevour in the span of Wengers realm .. WIth that said, I dont think arsenal will produce what ur talking about. Cuz they have been building and building and building a team for so long now, hell Henry is 30 and still nothing (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

So you say Clichy, Fabregas, Djorou, Hoyte, Traore, Song, Denilson , Walcott and all the others will transpire to nothing? Henry hasn't won too much with his club, because he has stayed loyal to Arsenal, which isn't the best club in the world. Still, the only things he have never won is the Carling Cup and Champions League And he's participated in a CL final, and Arsenal in a Carling Cup final.
And who scored the goal against Brazil in the World cup? Who scored the Golden goal in the Intercontinal Cup final in 2003? One more goal and he's joint french topscorer alongside Platini. Last year he scored more goals in the Premiership than the entire Sunderland squad put together.
If Arsenal had progressed and met Milan, of course I would have supported Arsenal.
Oh, and check your facts. Henry is 29.

If you are going to criticize someone, you should have your facts right. If you had bothered to watch the Carling Cup, and seen what the youngsters did to Everton, Bolton, Liverpool and partly to Chelsea, you would have thought otherwise.
So the Euro, World Cup, Premier League and FA-Cup don't class as "merit"?
No comment? Why not?
And why should Henry leave the club he loves?

I have been following the EPL very closely and arsenal are the team that play splendid passing football. This season, they have bolstered their team even further, but as time passes by, arsenal are not going anywhere. They are stuck at best in 3rd place.
Henry brought the EPL two or three times, I said that .. But the WC was Zidanes. I have most of france's highlights on my pc from WC 98, and let me tell u this. Henry was a shadow compared to Zidane!
Let Henry stay at the club he loves, I dont care ..
Facts ?! criticize ?! ... Is the truth not so evident ??
Listen .. I dont really care about Henry, arsenal, the EPL, or what arsenal will be like in 100 yrs from now .. Cuz this is a milan forum and that is the ONLY team i care about to bring facts .. And about that facts thing, is this the COngress of Vienna ?! or is it the Davos economic forum ?! What facts ?? Henry has class, won the EPL once or twice, but that is about it.

Ok, there's an argument going on, and I sure as hell am not gonna miss it. First of all I think Locke already told us that Milan are only his distant number 2 club. Kinda like me and Newcastle, ok maybe a bit stronger. And if we can have Celtic and Belgrade fans come in and have a chat with us, I'm not stopping Locke. Secondly,I think all of us agree that Porty has never forgiven Henry for sending Portugal out of the WC. Though I do believe, they woulda had their butts handed out to them by the Azzurri if they did progress. However not before Ronaldo got Matrix sent off with a dive and the Pippo returned the favour for Carvalho (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Thirdly, while I don't believe for one moment that Arsenal are a bad club, I don't believe they have anything in them to suggest they might be a better team than ManU or Chelsea. In fact if Liverpool weren't so slow and I didn't hate them so much, I might have put the Scousers on the list as well. Look the facts are, Arsenal can no longer claim to have a weaker team. They've hyped their youngsters long and hard, and if they don't have experienced players on their team, it's their own fault and no one else's. I mean Newcastle had to drag in players from their reserve and youth team to cover for the injured first timers. Arsenal by the sheer strength of it's squad on paper and the performances they have shown, cannot claim to have any excuse for not challenging for all 4 trophies this season either. This young team excuse has been used for a really long time now. I think it's B.S honestly. I'm overjoyed as well to see youth shine in a team(Kaka, Gourcuff, Pato etc), but if they are placed in a club's first team, or as starters, it must be because they belong there and not because you want them to gain 'valuable experience'. So let's not complain that Fabregas can't mix it up with Lampard or Ballack, coz that's nonsense. If he can't then too bad but Arsenal is substandard and should find someone else. You see, the problem plaguing Arsenal has not been it's players or it's beautiful playing style, but quite a few other factors. 1. No Plan B: Granted they play sparkling passing football. But what happens the minute the opposition wake up and decide to bolt doors and be more organized? Don't deny that Arsenal at that point have looked toothless and I'm sorry to say pathetic. They've overcomplicated passes, and lacked simple finishing. In fact if Gila had been in Arsenal and missed all those similar chances like he did here, he'd be lionised as a fast growing youngster, with a defining presence in football. Think about it. Arsene Wenger has one style. Play down the middle. So if like they finally did(about 4 months too late, English managers are either retarded, or believe they shouldn't defend) the opposing managers bolted Cesc down. Rosicky and Hleb had to push into center. Hleb was no longer able to bolt down the right, which I feel has been the only strong secondary threat Arsenal had in offense. And voila, no more Arsenal goals. Contrast that with say a Man U. You try bolting down Saha,Carrick and Scholes then Rooney, Ronaldo and Giggs will strip you bare, and vice versa. I'm sorry, but in English football you can't fly without wings. For one they have no concept of wingbacks. (Clichy is refreshing, but he isn't the best reader of the game or the best crosser. One I'll put to inexperience, the second is skill related. Roberto Carlos could run like a demon, but his crossing was second to none.) Thirdly Arsenal or Arsene(when you think about it, same thing actually), seems to have a problem with the lay off and long shoot. They avoid it and at the same time are susceptible to it. It's gonna make u suffer in Europe, and it sure as hell is making them suffer in England. Fact is passing is great, but when you gotta shoot, shoot, don't pass. Milan have Kaka, Seedorf, Pirlo all capable of the killer pass, but you don't have the luxury of staying off them, coz what could be coming could either be the killer pass or the long shoot into the top corner. With Fabregas, one guys stays slightly off limiting his pass options, while another guy double teams him for the steal. Sad, but if it's obvious to me, it should be obvious to Arsene and he should have made changes. Which is where I think Arsene has made a true blue managerial mistake while managing this club. It is IMO wrong to advocate a playing style. A philosophy of course, but a style no. Football is too multi cultured has grown too global, for one playing style. By all means, have a philosophy..like Milan's is Possession and the killer counter attack, among a host of others, but for that you need to have an Italian manager ((IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif) ), and Bolton's is be a pr!ck up the other guys anal crack, till they give up. But the moment you decide you're gonna be a short passing team, or a wing play team or whatever...you might win a few matches, but not a whole season or a tournament. You'll last as long as it takes to study your methods, and then you'll be chewed up and spit out. If anything Arsenal should be grateful they faced PSV and not say Barca or Inter. Coz bad as we think those teams are, they can still hit a team where it hurts, and in Arsenal's case where it hurts the most, their strategy. Finally, there is also the problem of their players phasing out in the last 25 minutes or so. Capital mistake. Earlier they used to do it, in the early stages, but now it's later and at a more dangerous time, when a mistake doesn't give you time to make up for it. We saw it in the Carling Cup, and we can see it in quite a few places now. That's I guess a player issue, but that has to be fixed too. However where is Arsenal strong. Their youth for one. If Man U has Cris and Scholes out on long leave like what happened to Henry and Nesta, then they are f@cked. They might have enough gas in them not to lose, but win, and in big matches?? Uh-uh. Arsenal has players who can seamlessly integrate, which is their biggest strength. And a positive brought about by Arsene not choosing to compromise with his youth first policy for sh!t cups like Carling. (This one's just so you and I have something to fight over Porty (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ) . So let me give this rating at the end of it all... Arsenal....8/10 Man U....8.2/10 Chelski....8.5/10 Liverpool....(on form with Benitez thinking on his feet) 8.1/10 I'm sorry but this is what I feel the state of the EPL is right now. I guess Arsenal being ranked below Liverpool might hurt some, but the difference Rafa in his right mind can bring to the side while playing is immense enough for it to be so. Even if the Liverpool squad is I feel inferior in a lot of ways to Arsenal. And this is from me, grand imperial poobah of the Gooner side of milanfan.com, so nobody even suggest I'm biased. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/devil.gif)

If jack is getting involved then so am I !!!! Okay first of all Arsenal is not that weak of a squad as many as you guys are stating. The problem with their team is Arsene. Arsenal has many talented youth players but you can't expect 19 year old fabregas to control the midfield like pirlo and gattuso do. He is too young and very inexperienced. Don't get me wrong he is extremely talented but too young. Arsenal are above Liverpool in my opinion since liverpool depends on their pathetic finishers and gerrard to basically do anything. I've been watching them and they definetly should not have had the luck they did when killing barca. Arsenal are in a terrible form right now because there striker is missing and the youngster aren't that experienced. So i'm gonna talk about Henry since many of you seem to dislike/diss him. Now i'm gonna say this loud and clear and many of i think will agree with me. Shevchenko is a much better striker than Henry. this has no relevency to the topic i know but hear me out. What shevchenko did for milan is similar to what henry does for arsenal. Everyone in arsenal tries to get the ball up the middle, sides etc and pass it to henry so he can do his gay @ss arsenal style tap-ins which should be trademarked in my opinion. Sheva was the same for milan, everyone got him the ball and he scored. The difference is that sheva was being backed by experienced midfielders and defenders, while henry is being backed by 20 year olds. They can only do so much and that is arsene's fault that he does not understand that you cannot buy youngsters and expect them to beat chelsea, man u etc. So now observe what happens when these two strikers disapeer. Sheva from milan henry from arsenal. Look what has happened. Milan were in a complete crisis since Gila is a joke and so is Inzaghi, and Oli was a waste of time. Without henry, arsenal are a joke. Adebayor is a waste of time. RVP is decent but very very hyped. Walcott(plays Strike sometimes), too young and is very very very very very very very very very very hyped like the nintendo wii and the 360. (i own wii so i can talk (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) So personally i was hoping arsenal would beat psv but deep down i knew without henry arsenal is a zero. He is their only hero. Without sheva we were a zero to, but we came back and now were back to winning things like usual. Your saying how your team will be good in a few years, well i'm here to tell you that it isn't going to be. First of all half of your players will leave, when they find out that arsenal is more focused on rasing youngsters than actually winning things. For f@cks sake arsenal board should fire wenger and hire a manager who can actually make a proper team. Your arsenal in EPL, not sao paolo. When the youngsters on your team realise that arsene wenger is more focused towards raising the newest and youngest talent, they willl feel offended and leave. THE ONLY REASON why henry stayed was because thousands of fans got on there knees and kissed his feet so he would stay.(not litterly (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) ) Face it Your henry is good but he is not the world's greatest striker and he sure as hell wouldn't be so hyped if he was in any other team. The same happened with shevchenko. He was hyped on milan so much as you can see he was a flop when he transfered to another team. What a team must do is have good decent older players and young players so the young can learn from the old and have quality players in each wave of positions. Look at milan and maldini, see how much bonera has improved just by watching and being around maldini. Who has toure to look up to? Your team is good but not the best and defenitly not bettter than diving united and chelski. best in epl goes like this-- diving united chelski liverpool bolton arsenal Thats what i think, if u think i'm wrong in anyway please respond and you can aswell porto.
