QUOTE (dst @ Jan 12 2007, 02:23 PM)
Galliani confirmed that the two clubs have not reached an agreement over a fee, although new meetings are scheduled for next week.

“We spoke this morning, but there is still a gap between what we are offering and Lazio’s request,” said the official on the Gazzetta dello Sport’s website.

“We will meet next week to discuss it again. What will happen? I don’t know – I am neither optimistic nor pessimistic.

“Let’s say that our chances of signing Oddo are 50-50. If he doesn’t arrive then we will not make any other moves on the market,” ended Galliani.

Typical. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

And then we find out they had plans on Beckham...this is very weird. I hope for all our sakes he's just playing cloak and dagger games.

Grimi wont bring us anything (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) At least, not at the moment (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) ..

I truely hope this is one of his negotiating games and NOT filling us with bullsh!t !!

Carlo needs a fullback ! Cafu doesn't have it in him to be on the first team anymore! And on the left side, well Janku isn't exactly Maldini nor Chivu,  he's just Janku. Grimi ? Who ?!! (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) Not the right time to bring in this kid! We need a quick fix, not a future project!
*

I'm not so sure. I agree that on the right back we absolutely need another player and Oddo would be the perfect choice, but on the left? On the left we have Jankulovski, Favalli, Grimi, Serghino (after he'll get back from the injury) and in case of emergency we can even put Kaladze or Maldini. We're filled on that position, there's no need to sign another player.

Oddo and Iaquinta await Milan

Milan’s bids for Massimo Oddo and Vincenzo Iaquinta are in trouble, but not over, believes the Lazio defender.

“I am following with interest the evolution of these negotiations between the two clubs,” commented Oddo of his long-running tug of war.

“I know that they have been talking to each other for a while and are working towards finding a solution. I hope they can sort everything out as soon as possible.”

The right-back has made it abundantly clear he wants a January move to Milan, where he started his career in their youth system, but the switch has stalled over Lazio’s demands.

“In the meantime, I will give my support to the team with a professional approach, which I have never shied away from.”

Biancocelesti President Claudio Lotito also seemed to suggest the talks with Milan were far from over.

“Oddo’s contract expires in 2008 and that is it. Of course, if he wanted to leave, and this is an option from what I read, we would not block him. We would only need the right offer to let him go,” stated the patron.

Meanwhile, another of the Rossoneri’s long-running transfer sagas could find a light at the end of the tunnel.

World Cup winning striker Iaquinta has been on their wish list for several months and, according to Udinese director general Roberto Zanzi, it’s a deal that could happen soon.

“There is so much talk of Iaquinta, but so far we haven’t received an offer that would convince us to release him in January,” he told Teleradiostereo.

“Milan like him, but there are no talks on right now. We wouldn’t be swayed by a £7m bid, but if £10m were to be proposed, then that would be a different matter.”

Nonetheless, Zanzi urged the Rossoneri to hurry up and make their move if they wanted the hitman mid-season.

“Clearly, an offer for Iaquinta towards the end of the month would probably be rejected, because if Vincenzo leaves then we need time to find an adequate replacement.”

pff i wouldnt be the least bit surprised if he's just saying that now that beckham saga is over Just to make the fans think they are more eager on the market then they really are. i've never been so frustrated with milan. the way this team is being run it's like my 12 year old brother playing football manager 07(but at least my brother is siging players). lets face it milan is cheap, and is becoming a less effective version of real madrid. It's obvious real management want trophies but money and jersey sales are their priority. milan speaks of buying all these washed out names like ronaldo, beckham, etc. perhaps to boost their jersey sales as well. it's been around 3 years now our defence has neeeded youth and yes milan should have started investing in youth 2-3 years ago so we wouldnt be in the position we are now. but no this problem has not been addressed properly and look next year we could lose maldini, cafu, simic, serginho and surely billy. nesta has been in the decline in the past 2 years and kaladze only had really one good season with us. Now we have new problems like Dida probably wont be with us next season, our strike force is average at best and shorthanded. but look 3 years later and galliani wont (i'm using the word wont because it's not that he "cant" it is because he refuses to solve the problem) our def. problem, and he hasnt even started to address the other problems. i cant see us buying 6-7 new players in the summer cuz that is the amont of players we will need to get us back on track and i dont like making so many changes at once to one squad. the more and more this season progresses the more i see that the problem with this team is not carlo, or some of the players but galliani. good post by the way... (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . Galliani is holding this dream of our strikers (gila and oli) stepping up and going crazy with goals.. which they can, both of them but not without a leader in attack.

Oddo Hopes In Rapid Solution Of Negotiations

Milan and Lazio have not yet agreed on the amount which the Rossoneri will have to pay the Biancocelesti for the services of the Italian full-back.

Everything seemed to point out that Friday would be Massimo Oddo's transfer day from Lazio to Milan, however yet again, nothing was finalized.

The world cup winning defender is hoping that the move will soon occur, but in the meantime has vowed that he will still work hard to help Lazio before any deal is sealed.

"I know that the two club are working to find a solution," commented the Lazio captain. "I hope that everything is solved as soon as possible. In the meantime, I will always act professionally on the pitch."

Oddo's transfer rumour windmill had started in the past summer, but the Rossoneri failed to secure his signature due to a lack of an agreement between Galliani and Lotito. History seems to be repeating itself and unless one of the two parts makes a step backwards from their demands, the negotiations will once again stall.

Rossi releases unhappy Oddo

Lazio Coach Delio Rossi has opened the door for Massimo Oddo’s departure, but will continue to play him as long as his contract stands.

The right-back has made it abundantly clear he wants a January move to Milan, the side whose youth team system he grew up in, but the two clubs continue to haggle over the price.

“I am not sending anyone away, but nor will I keep someone against his will,” pointed out Rossi in his Press Conference.

“For the moment he is a Lazio player, a captain at that, and on Sunday he will play. As for the others, the club will evaluate all offers. This is a big squad and those who haven’t found much space now could have even less as time goes on.”

The fans are unhappy at the lack of big name signings for the Biancocelesti, but Rossi focused on the quality rather than quantity of their players.

“One thing is for sure – we will not sign stars just to cloud the judgment of our supporters. I won’t sell a cat to bring in a dog.”

Strange metaphors aside, the former Salernitana Coach looked ahead to tonight’s clash with Siena at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I am really curious to see how the team gets back on track after the winter break. The last interruption didn’t do us much good, I wonder how this will turn out. We’re coming off a tough week physically in which we played in the Dubai tournament.

“Siena are a tough opponent who give their best away from home. Mario Beretta’s team have already taken points off Milan, after all, but I have faith in my lads. They are professionals and know anything less that 150 per cent is a big risk for everyone.”

Meanwhile, police are investigating after Lazio’s team bags were vandalised. The luggage was daubed with offensive slogans and urine on the way back from their winter training camp in Dubai, passing through Milan’s Malpensa airport and Rome’s Fiumicino.

Let's hope that we'll at least get him. Oddo is a rock in defence and is great going forward. If we want to go anywhere this season then we need at least 1 great fullback, and Oddo is the right man for the job
