QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Dec 24 2006, 07:14 PM) He renewed his contract and still stayed with Milan ! I have this gut feeling that Milan wanted to sell him more than he wanted to leave ! 30M pounds for a 30 yr old, in his decline stage .. Shevchenko .. Is a very VERY good deal .. But when you say Kaka for 40M pounds (Madrid's last bid), a player that has yet to reach his prime and is destined to be one of footballs all-time greats, just like Pele, Maradonna, Zizu .. I think a player like that is priceless. Maybe in 2011 .. when he's 30 or so; Milan will let him go ... But not now .. I don't think Milan wanted to let Sheva go they where offered much more for him from Real during the time of the 'golacticos' and they refused. Sure he was younger but still a lot of cash. If we wanted cash then we could have milked Ajaz for Stam and same goes for Benfica and Rui, but we let them leave for free as some sort of sentimental gesture towards the player. Milan never needed the money for Sheva, he wanted to leave and because of the relationship he has with Silvio he let him despite having a contract.

I understand very well the the relationship between Sheva and Don Silvio, I also remember the deals from Madrid; but did they let Shevchenko go during that time ? (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I mean if David Beckham left Man U for Madrid ( and he was THE most valuable player among Man U's stock ( at the time ) ), then why couldn't Sheva declare a move too (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) I mean hands down it is a much better club than Chelscum .. Rich history, better weather and taxes are, supposedly, really low .... Instead he stayed .. Untill Milan agreed to sell him at the age of 30 !! So, my point is, chill guys .. Kaka will stay with us till he's about that age .. The whole of San Siro would be burned down if he leaves this summer (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Stam was sold to Ajax .. Rui was the free transfer ... In anycase, Stam - out Bonera in ..... Rui - out Gourcuff - in .... Fresh blood. Stam was definately in his decline and Rui Costa as much as I like this player, his time has ended, he doesnt deserve the bench.

QUOTE (mishale @ Dec 24 2006, 07:30 PM) Ajax payed something like 5-6 mil for Stam Ohh, thought he was let off in the end QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Dec 24 2006, 07:31 PM) I understand very well the the relationship between Sheva and Don Silvio, I also remember the deals from Madrid; but did they let Shevchenko go during that time ? About Beckham, he didn't want to leave but Man U had to sell him (at least this is what I've heard about his transfer). But in Milan's case we never needed the money. But just think about this, if Milan where the ones that wanted to sell him, would Sheva have let them sell him, with him coming out as looking like the bad guy that jumped ship when the club was going through a bit of rough waters. I wouldn't think he would be that much up fot it (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) And neither do I believe that Sheva left for the money since he is basically getting paid at Chelsea what he was paid at Milan. I guess in the end it all comes down to the wifey

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Dec 24 2006, 08:19 PM) han .. ofcourse Milan dont need the money; what's 30M for Berlusconi ? (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) But still, cashing in for a worn out Shevchenko, 30M pounds, when they got him for only 26M pounds ... Sweet deal for the club as a whole .. It could be debatable, but between Milan and Chelsea, I think Milan profited much more (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif) I think that if Sheva stayed he woud still be the same Sheva for us. Who would have known that he would turn out the way he did in the EPL?? So Milan rarely make bug mistakes when it come to the transfer market (although we did have some howlers during the late 90's) but Sheva could have easily turned out to be the biggest thing in the EPL since sliced bread as he has easily become the biggest flop in it's history. My point is, I don't think Milan EVER wanted to sell him, Silvio regarded him as a second son, 30M pounds are peanuts to him hecould have easily invested that ammount in the club himself instead of selling the clubs most valuble player

( Shevchenko was an idol for me, as a player and as a Rossoneri .. Just to know I am not attacking him ) .. Had Sheva stayed at Milan .. That would have been a different story, but his form has been in a decline ! He has been consistent on goal yes, but not as in the past .. Lately he has been injury prone and lacks the fluid game that he used to have. Basically when a player looses his Prime, i.e. Rui Costa, when he was at Fiorentina he was amazing, his goals came from no-where ... then he moved to Milan everything was going well, then after 2003 after the CL Final, he started to give performances that didn't match what he could have done in the past (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Shevchenko's form has been decreasing ever since 2004, we won the scudetto and his form had decreased .. Before 2004, he was the best, but after that .. He just simply wasn't able to match his previous performances .. Sure he has a sight for goal .. But if I show you footages of him back then, then I show you him in 05 and 06 .. you'll see a HUGE difference. With that said, naturally, Kaka is the asset along with Pirlo, Gilardino, and Nesta .. These are players that still have juice in them to play at the highest of their level.

He might not have been the most valuable asset, and the players you mentioned I think could go for more then him especially Kaka since they are all younger. But in the fans eyes and the way we played with him on the field I think he was our most valuable asset. And I agree with you that he has been in somewhat of a decline after 04 but still he was the leader in our attack and in my eyes he was our most valuble player. But we just can't judge him on anything he does at Chelsea cause anything he does there is pure cr@p compared to what he's done with Milan.

I don't judge him based on what he is doing now (actually I dont care how he's doing now) ... But b4 he left us .. He wasnt the Sheva I used to watch; he was above all a leader and an inspiration to the team, while his form was nothing to be arrogant about .. i.e. (this is more painful to talk about) Maldini in the 90's and Maldini in the 00's .. You see a difference .. Especially since u'v known no other but this player, you could deffinately point out where he is lacking, compared to previous years. But experience, that is what is valuable in, Both SHvchenko and Maldini ... They both have emense experience .. We r talking about players here that played at the top .. (i.e. finals, semi-finals, and champions) .. They have gone through it all .. So that would be the ONLY thing valuable, IMHO. In the end, Milan was in need of a change of squad .. So selling Shevchenko @ 30M pounds, believe me, was worth it .. Take this example: An apple that is starting to go rotten in ur kitchen .. You could still eat it TODAY, but in two days, it wouldn't be edable ... The morale is, u could gain something from it today, but if u leave it for another day, you could loose it's value on the previous day. I.e. Shevchenko @ 30 was worth 30M pounds !!! But @ 31, and assume he was performing the way he is today .. (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) That's what I ment by us having the upper hand to Chelsea; we had the better deal (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) Don't worry .. This team has always had goal scorers of emmense quality, MVB, Sheva, JPP, Massaro, etc etc .. Just wait and see (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Dec 25 2006, 04:50 PM) Unless it's Henry, Eto'o or R10 I don't think we could bring his equal any time soon. But hopefully Oli starts to show us what he really can do and another player that is promising come in. Maybe that Pato kid if we manage to get him, although I heard Chelsea are also after him now, so....guess who will win that one (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

QUOTE so....guess who will win that one Depends...do Milan really want him? If yes, Chelsea better not move a muscle coz it won't make a difference.
