QUOTE (X-Offender @ Nov 5 2006, 03:34 AM) He was talking abour Ronaldinho, saying that Milan will never sign in. If they wanted to get him, they should have done it when he was playing for Gremmio or PSG. But now it's nearly impossible. It's like taking Kakà away from Milan. Then he said he admires Arsenal, who unlike Chelsea, buy young (cheap) talented players, and then they transform them in superstars. He talked about Vieira, how Milan sold him to Arsenal back in 1995 I think, and then talked about Braida being in Rio etc. I understand that .. But look at the history of this club .. While clubs have risen and fallen .. Milan have always brought in proven players .. I mean, recently we got Kaka and Gourcuff; who are both young when they came to Milan, still they were proven .. Arsenal on the other hand would get Flamini and Cesc, the later suceeded at Arsenal but Flamini wasn't even competitive to make the starting XI .. Point of the matter is, teams like Arsenal can afford to bring up these young players, while we ( I think Iv stated this somewhere in this forum..) are always well equipt with a competitive side. Maybe Milan is starting to invest in youth ?! Maybe that is true .. It is yet to be seen .. I doubt it though, not cuz I dont agree with the idea, but because we need players of calibure not future prospects. The primavera have rarely been given a chance to prove what they can do on the BIG stage, why would Milan give a chance to other talents, when clearly our own arent given that chance (..or rarelly given..) .. Look at our situation with Foggia .. He is very talented, but he isn't making the team ..

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Nov 4 2006, 07:12 AM) Galliani said today on Milan Channel that Milan want to become like Arsenal i.e. discovering young talents etc. At this moment Braida is in Rio and then he'll fly to Buenos Aires to observe some young talented lads. If it materializes it will be ideal, but I'm not holding my breathe. To get cryptic Wenger also has a policy that he cuts players who are over 30. The oldest player on the starting line-up of Arsenal is Henry who is 30 and probably the best forward in the world. If he wants to be like Wenger he is going to be selling a hell of alot of players in the next window and buying alot of players to make up for it. I don't see this happening. He also stated that we aren't buying in the transfer window. It appears that Braida has been observing young talent lads for some time. The problem is all the young talent Argentinian or Brazilian talent goes to Spain because its more of an attacking Football style. Braida will do the watching while Barcelona and Madrid do the buying.

Look at our situation with Foggia .. He is very talented, but he isn't making the team .. Yeah but the whole process goes through a cycle. Wenger is looking to build the next Arsenal that was unbeaten a couple seasons ago. Arsenal made it to the CL final and finished in a good position last season. They are rebuilding. They have 10 matches while most have 11 and they are 3 points out of 3rd place. And Man U and Chelsea are a mountain to climb. Ferguson has somewhat of the same strategy, find the best youth and build a team around them. Ronaldo and Rooney. I admire Arsenal and Wenger myself because they are such a young and exciting team. They have such an interesting offense, that can rip teams to shreds. We also got young talent by the name of Scheva and Kaka and look what they became. The best players develop through a team of some kind. Its difficult to pull a player from another team and expect them to be the same. They generally never play as well as they did. Its like Beckham on Man U versus Beckham on Madrid. Two different players.

Two different players. When you compare a team of Milan's calibure .. You simply cant compare ! The cycle you are talking about WILL bring about a strong Arsenal team for what ?! 4-5 seasons at best ?! Then what ? another cycle that would take 7-10 yrs for them to rebuild ?? Don't get me wrong Wenger is one of my favs .. And his strategy is one that I admire a LOT. Arsenal won the Premiership 13 times (a couple of community shields and what nots ..) .. While Milan won the Scudetto 17 times and have 6 CL trophies .. Man Utd ?? They have 15 EPLs and 1 CL .. I don't think they hold weight either (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) You cant even compare .. The problem here is that you arent seening the BIG pic and a lot of talk is going down in the forum about us acuiring youth players .. But, in all honesty, that will RARELY be the case. We don't need to agree on this issue; it's common knowledge .. You dont believe me, fine .. Just wait and see next season who'll be transfered in (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) The thing is, this club is quit different from PSV, Arsenal, Barcelona, Ajax, Man U, etc etc .. And when I say different, I mean different in all dimentions, especially transfer policy (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Agree with you completely.
Don't take this as a contradiction with myself. I agree that that is what Milan does and what they will continue to do, because the calibre that we are in to the one that Arsenal and PSV are in are totally different.
What is irritating is the fact that they would rather go for a guy that is about to retire and who still won't get enough playing time anyway (Favalli) then go for the young prospect who might turn out to be a key player for you in the near future.
If for example someone young and talented came in the summer instead of Favalli that would have been much more wiser, Favalli still doesn't get playing time anyway. We're not saying Milan should buy young players and then play them immediately and the coach is given all the time he needs to discover in what roles they should play and to mold them into great players. Someone like Kaka, who came in and slowly phased out Rui Costa, he didn't come in and immediately was given a starting role, or came in to replace someone in the team.
