Livorno did a very good job closing up our players. They had 3 players in the middle of midfield and the game was crowded there. That's why we needed more attacking full backs today than Bonera and Favalli in order to open up the game more.
Rino was playing in Pirlo position. Seedorf moved to the right in order to let Ambro to be in the left , but Ambro was moving to the center all the time and then Seedorf was coming back to his original place in the left side of the diamond. With all these changes it was impossible to play our usual game and move the ball great like we always do. The midfield harmony was damaged.
Kaka started the game to close to strikers but he quickly understood that in day like this a lot depend on him. He tried many thing but in second half there was always two players on him and even he can't win the game alone.
Oliveira was trying to do too much instead of playing it more simple. He had very good chance in the begining of the game.
Dida: 6
Bonera:4.5
Nesta: 5.5
Kaladze: 5.5
Favalli: 4.5
Gattuso: 5
Ambrosini: 4
Seedorf: 4
Kaka: 6
Oliveira: 4
Inzaghi: 5

O.k we played awful but after so many games in short period of time and all the changes I can understand a draw in away game at Livorno. We drew a game after 6 wins. Yes it's Livorno, so what? Many teams will lose points there. If we are bashing the team so much then we are spoiled.

QUOTE (Portugal @ Sep 23 2006, 08:46 PM)
This mentality is going to take Milan nowhere this season. As I said before, this season we're not gonna win anything, for the 3rd year in the row.
*

Don't worry we all remember your predictions for the season.
And you saying that after a draw? I wonder what you gonna say after our first loss (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) I don't recall you talking like this after the wins. Maybe it's time to bring your sig back.
You need to believe more in your team. It's like you want Inter to win the championship just in order to say you was right.
It's nothing personal but your attitude irritates me on this issue.

Milan's 100 per cent record was ended at the Stadio Picchi, where Livorno held out for a 0-0 draw and rattled the crossbar with Stefano Morrone. It's their first Serie A draw since March 12.

The Rossoneri have already wiped out their eight-point Calciopoli penalty and were hoping to maintain their perfect record, but Livorno are strong on home turf and eager to cause an upset.

Captain Paolo Maldini limped off after just four minutes of play to make way for Kakha Kaladze, raising further doubts over his fitness levels after a long-term injury last term.

Pippo Inzaghi set up a promising opportunity for Ricardo Oliveira that was charged down by Marco Amelia, then Clarence Seedorf drilled over the bar.

Kaka's splendid curling strike was inches wide of the top corner with Amelia beaten, then Inzaghi scuffed over from a Daniele Bonera assist. Dario Passoni gave the ball away in midfield and Kaka's ambitious lob was off target.

Massimo Ambrosini was furious when he fell inside the area on a David Balleri challenge, but the referee waved play on.

Livorno also had a scoring opportunity just before the break, as Bonera's error sparked a counter-attack that Cristiano Lucarelli fired over from seven yards.

Amelia pushed a Kaka set-piece off Inzaghi's head and there were penalty appeals for a Bonera challenge on Lucarelli. However, while Milan lost Maldini, Livorno also saw their most representative player limp off with a thigh problem, making way for Bakayoko.

Yet it was after his substitution that Livorno really began to threaten. Alessandro Nesta cleared a Balleri cross to the edge of the box, where Stefano Morrone's missile cannoned off the bar.

Giuseppe Favalli also went off with a muscular injury, letting Marek Jankulovski on to the field. Carlo Ancelotti's only unforced substitution saw Andrea Pirlo replace Gennaro Gattuso.

Dida did well to hold a Luca Vigiani glancing header and a long-range Balleri snapshot flashed across the face of goal. At the other end, Inzaghi nearly pounced on a Rahman Rezaei error, closed down by Amelia.

Kaka chested down and drilled his half-volley wide from the edge of the box, then another of the Brazilian's strikes was controlled by the Livorno goalkeeper.

In the final minute, Pirlo's long ball sent Ricardo Oliveira running, but Amelia timed his intervention perfectly to pluck it off the striker's feet and prevent a goal or penalty.

I come to think Carlo should have played Gourcuff from the begining. He's in better shape than Seedorf at the moment. Seedorf played awfuly tonight. Well, not worse than against PSV 2 years ago, which was his worst match for Milan so far, but yet I think he was on fire only in the pre-season. In all these 7 matches he hasn't showed his full capabilities, except that amazing goal against Parma. I come to think he's full of football. I know it sounds stupid, but come on. The guy has won everything, he has no motivation and plays a slow football. Maybe he should spend a good amount of matches on the bench to get that desire he's missing. He wears the #10 shirt, that means a lot for a Milan player. C'mon Clarence, wake up!

I think it's Seedorf's time to rest Milan's number 10 on the bench. If not now then some time before Christmas it will happen !!

A really stale performance today.

Milan have definitely weakened from last season. They have lost their offensive presence. Today it looked like the Capello strategy of use two defensive central midfielders, play really defensive, and get one goal to win.

Ambrosini is the worst midfielder we have, he brings nothing. Watching him is like drinking flat soda.

Without Pirlo we had no distribution til the end.

Bonera and Favalli were weak down the flanks as an offensive option but were good defensively.

Kaka hasn't found his form yet.

What is the matter with you people??? I came here this morning and was reading all of this and I said to myself, "What the HELL?"

We play ONE bad game and suddenly everyone is saying F@ck you milan and we are not going to win anything this season???

It's a DRAW, not the end of the world, it wasn't even a loss for god's sake.

Yes we played a really sh!tty game, guess what every team has a bad day, and like dst said somewhere, it was the 5th game in 15 days, what did you expect? That we will keep the winning streak and never lose or draw??

And why is everyone complaining about Ambro and Rino playing together now? from what I remember when we where making our line-ups for this match everyone was agreeing that Pirlo should be rested and Ambro should step in.

The only points I want to make about this one are

1. If Favalli is going to play then we NEED Cafu on the right, simple as that.

2. Seedorf, imo, was terrible, misplaced passes and crosses all through the game, Carlo was right to yell at him, he should have even taken him off and put in Yoann. If he doesn't get his act together then I can see him losing his place to Gourcuff faster then we all thought

3. Pippo was missing a LOT of chances, what's the matter with him? if this was 2 weeks ago he would have at least scored 2 of his chances. I say we play Gila for the Lille match, because he will see this as his opporutinity to reclaim his place in the starting 11

4. Kaka is really taking on the role as the leader of the team, but why the hell hasn't he scored yet? Last night wasn't a good game by him at all, but at least he was trying, and I mean REALLY trying, too bad no one was trying to help him

5. Finally, about Oliveira. Ok he missed a great chance, he could have won the match for us, but fact is he is having a bit of problems regerding match fitness, and I don't really blame him, this is his 3rd game, I don't really expect wonders to come out of him just yet. He had a bad game yesterday, but all his performances where all very solid and encouraging. We should stop comparing him to S****, fact is, if we are going to compare the current S**** to Oliveira, then Oli would win hands down.

The last hing I want to say is, what is wrong with drawing with Livorno? Is it such a bad thing? in the 04/05 season we didn't manage a single win against them. Do you really think that we aren't going to lose ANY points this season?? Especially the small team, where we seem to struggle the most.

1. Definitely !
2. and definitely ! I think in the Lille game Seedorf MUST be left on the bench; after all it's what he deserves for this performance !! I'm angry at him ... he asked for #10 for what ? does he want to prove something or will he follow Rui Costa on the bench ... and to think that Rui was playing much better than Seedorf is now ...

Definately, especially with a Gourcuff pumped up, because of returning to his country.

I don't know what happened to Seedorf in this match, and the whole team for that matter because everyone seemed like they where playing at 10% to their abilities, but Seedorf was really disappointing in this match, in the others he was impressing me a lot, even when he came in as a sub, but he just went down hill in this match.

Maybe the players decided to take a rest now that we have recovered the minus points, but whatever it is they need to get their act together.

Oh just want to add

1. Amelia, should be one of our top priorities after a defender for the next tranfer market.

2. Gila should play in the next match, wether if it's in Pippo's place or Oli's I don't really care, but we really miss what he contributes to the team when he doesn't play. I think Pippo should be rested in the Lille match and Oli in the Siena hame, the latter seems to be having trouble adjusting to the physicality of serie A, a good rest should fix that
