He could be the Saint of Brazil, doesn't make his opinion any more valid.

That because he disagrees with you? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

In any case, with all due respect, I'll take his opinion on matters relating to soccer over yours.

I may disagree with Danny a lot. But to be honest if Pele said the sky was blue, I'd take a look for myself rather than trusting his word.

Was just thinking. With Algeria being 90% Muslim, I'm guessing a large amount of their players are. Will they be observing Ramadan for the remainder of the World Cup? I imagine it can't be healthy for a professional football playing in this kind of weather to not be able to drink.

From what I am hearing, they will be. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Be interesting to see whether this affects them in any way. I know of other sportsmen that play while fasting, while some select few skip it for the day.

The Algerian coach had an outburst today when the journalists kept asking questions like these (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I think I remember Ozil saying he delays it or something, which is the more sensible option IMO.

I think it's an awkward position for him. Personally speaking, if I were coach I'm not sure I could select any player observing during the games. I would feel responsible if they were to have problems due to dehydration or something.

Many people disagree with me, but I respect their opinions on matters. I don't respect his. I like the man, he's a nice guy. Just have no time for any of his opinions.

Their manager is getting irritated by the question of it.

This might just be too easy for Germany. I just don't know how Algeria are going to play through the fast. Especially since they won't even be drinking.

I believe as professional footballers, their work demands does excuse having to follow Ramadan, but I'm not sure. As far as I know this is how Ozil is working his way through the fast.

No, Ozil isn't.

Apparently only war and something else I forget are acceptable reasons not to fast.

It's a very fair point, it would be a tragedy if Algeria cannot play at their best for religious reasons.

QUOTE
Ozil is having to forego one of the rhythms of his life, too, by not observing the strict Muslim religious laws of Ramadan, which began on Saturday. “It will be impossible for me to take part,” he said. The Dar al-Ifta, Egypt’s main Islamic body gives dispensations to workers involved in “hard labour” and Ozil says he falls into this category. Many of Algeria's players will be fasting and are using a sports medicine expert based in Doha – Hakim Chalibi - to minimise the effect on preparations for the second round tie.

The above from evening standard.

Enyeama loves making saves for the camera's doesn't he? Wow. Aside of Benzema's one-on-one he over elaborates everything and at fault for both goals.

Indeed. But they had it coming. After Onazi got injured, they started to lose concentration and make too many mistakes. Feel sorry for them.

I thought Nigeria might have caused more problems than they did.
