Boateng will be the fulcrum in the hole again, with full freedom. Niang (imo) works hard on the right and is perfect in the pseudo wing back role he's been in recently, even if his dribbling needs work.

And assuming Max gets the tactics right again, and the team wants to work like a dog, then we'll hold out.

We WILL almost certainly lose on the night as it's not often a side goes to Camp Nou and doesn't lose in the CL - Kazan was the last one I remember to win there. But as long as we work stupidly hard I think the selection is perfect.

For all I support Muntari, Flamini is a better DM - just a pity he seems to be playing as a CM-cum AM these days!?

Niang on the wing will most probably mean Jordi Alba will have a day in the park on that side. Hopefully Allegri plays Boateng there and Niang as CF.

By the way, if Mexes doesn't make it (which seems to be the case at the moment), then De Sciglio should play as CB, not frigging Yepes!

The Mexes situation is pissing me off. he gets injured a lot and (though very good) is no Silva. he's also prone to stupid mistakes that can cost you any moment. we should look for a reliable CB in the summer.

That said, fingers crossed he makes it.

As for LB, I hope Constant recovers as I'm not sure about playing DS in such a huge game. we need experience.

But Constant played pretty well in the first leg. with him, we know what we have. with DS it's a question mark. he could or could not handle it, I don't know. I just don't want us to take any risks.

Well, yeah, Constant would be OK as well. Honestly I don't have any particular preference, but De Sciglio has been in top form lately, that's why I'd play him.

Putting Niang on the wing and Boateng upfront would be pretty stupid...

We need Boateng's hardwork and craft on that wing as he and Monto are the only 2 in that midfield who can use the ball well when we actually have it, lumping him in as the CF is ridiculous, while playing the inept Niang on the wing is equally so. Niang's physical presence is needed at CF, if for nothing else then to at least unsettle their CBs

Yeah, I believe KPB as a false CF is what we will go with upfront.

Me too, which would be a problem, we need someone with an imposing phisique upfront while Boateng is an absolute must on that wing, let's not forget how important he was on the wing in that first leg

Just re-watched the Barça-Chelsea highlights of last season. Man, they were really lucky with all those goal attempts Barça had, although they were playing with 10 men. We must put a much better defensive performance if we wanna go through.

Constant is our best LB. DS is in good form and it's a great dilemma to have, but like you say I'd argue Constant is a better option.

I think if we concede in the 1st half and then freak out and try to get that goal, we'll probably end up conceding another and as soon as that happens, we're done for.

The only way we can go through is not to concede in the first half, preferably no sooner than the 65th minute or something. but that's too late for Barca anyway, they usually get frustrated when they can't do what they should be doing, as we saw in the first leg, and that affects their game.

Really hope we can block them as well as that game! frustrating them is the key.

I agree. Sounds better than any other option I can think of. And everything else aside, Niang has shown he can be a nuisance in the box.
