QUOTE (d'Arc.LP @ Jul 25 2012, 04:14 PM) De Sciglio has potential to be much better than Abate, but com'on. Abate is faster, exploits the flanks better and actually has much more experience, CL experience too, while De Sciglio just fails to support the team mates on his flank, just watch the game with Schalke and other games more precisely concentrating on him, you'll see how he dissappears. experience experience... a much more experienced Abate is not better than a much less experienced De Sciglio, so if we play the latter one, who actually will develop a lot still, then our rightback might actually look good

Here's an idea for Allegri: 3-5-2! (IMG: http://this11.com/boards/abDnyFIapj.jpg) Now, I now it's not a very popular formation (I'm not a huge fan of it), and it's best suited for defending and counterattacking, but I think it would work well for us. At least until we get our act together. On paper it looks pretty solid, IMO. It would finally allow us to use the wings properly. Not to mention that every player fits each role perfectly. Juventus have been implementing it since last season, amongst other Serie A teams, like Fiorentina, Udinese, Napoli, Parma, and the Azzurri. Opinions?

It could work in the mid-field I'm sure. I'm concerned whether our defence has the brains to hold it together. And of course, if Allegri is capable of doing something other than 4-3-1-2.

QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Sep 17 2012, 11:15 AM) It could work in the mid-field I'm sure. I'm concerned whether our defence has the brains to hold it together. And of course, if Allegri is capable of doing something other than 4-3-1-2. We had a defense of Madlini, Nesta, Stam, Costacorta, ... And didn't play a 3-man defense. With the current defensive players on our roster, I doubt it would happen especially for this reason. Now, hypothetically speaking, 3-5-2 is interesting ... But would need a lot of work .. ie, we would have to be patient for an even longer time I guess; considering the whole team would have to change strategy(s).

The system anyway, the actual players are awful.

QUOTE (X-Offender @ Sep 17 2012, 02:58 AM) Opinions? QUOTE (Jack Sparrow @ Sep 17 2012, 10:15 AM) I'm concerned whether our defence has the brains to hold it together. I actually believe we have to change the amount of defenders, because what we have now is that our fullbacks go forward without much positive effect, yet the opponent will 'counter' attack us and our two central defenders can't handle it because on one side there is no one from us, but someone from the opponent there is. I've seen it more than once last match, and we were just fortunate the opponent wasn't anything close to special. With three central defenders you won't have this problem so easily. Also the wingbacks will help, but at least when one is not back at time, you'd still have four defenders or at least three, and not possibly just two. Last seasons we had such great central defenders with Thiago Silva and also Nesta, that the consistent fail from our fullbacks rarely got punished. Thiago Silva counted for two, if not more, defenders, and Nesta was and is special, including a good organizer. Yes, the brains of our defense is a major concern, and currently failing big time, so I am for something new. It isn't the first time a four man defense was a joke, a coach changed it to a three man defense, with as result the defense was much better, a better understanding they had. Painful example is Liverpool against us.
