Please don't leave us yet!

+∞. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I was the guy who had the most faith in him when we signed him. For me, it becomes a test of faith! I so want him to continue for another year, the guy is the perfect blend of experience and guile.

MVB did us a good turn while he was here, maybe not the best CM of all time but a pretty good one. His flaw was a dire disciplinary record.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

One of the few players in the current team that I genuine like. As a fan, that is. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) I still remember when we first signed him, I was the only one, or in the smallest of minorities that thought this was a great move. I mean, my Bayern friends were crying their heart out on losing their captain.

Thanks for the memories, Mark. Though I still would have liked to see one goal from you. Wretched bars!

Easily our best DM in recent time and in our current team, his departure will be a huge loss to the club.

I was skeptical in the beginning when he was signed, due to his past disciplinary issues, but that was quickly put aside after seeing the solid performances he gave, and I instantly became a fan.

EDIT: Like acid said, you deserved at least one goal; unfortunate that it didn't come, but still you gave so much more.

I also remember his 1st yellow card - It was hardly even a foul, much-less a yellow.

Farewell MvB, the memories were short, but they were worth it!

Ah, yes can't forget that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) It was more a welcoming yellow because of his reputation, not the foul.

True, man. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) I would have totally loved it if he played with us in his peak, spent 10-12 years at the club. MvB was one of the guys that had that extra cut of grace and class, technique and temperament, and when he signed for us, the experience to be worthy of our shirt he was wore. In 18 months he had collected so much love from the fans, imagine how much he would have if he played (and won) a decade for us.

For me, he was more of a vintage signing, a la Baggio, Ronaldo, Beckham and more. Totally worth the time!

Then please agree with this post I made nearly a year back, too. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/king.gif) Pretty please, Trini!

QUOTE (acid911 @ May 23 2011, 08:18 PM) *
Well I've got two things for you, Han: 1) If we had our own version of Bommel, we wouldn't have any need to bring him here. 2) And like I said, the club is free to make certain exceptions. And 3) I thought you just skimmed through my posts. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Reasons enough for you, LOL?!

But really, a major reason he is here is because Bayern did not renew with him due to their new policy of keeping and promoting youngsters. Also the reason of the recent renewal with Schweinsteiger with the whole of the fan base jumping up and down with joy, because this would tie him up with the club till he's what, 32? Six years extension, if I am recall correctly.

I think we as fans and some players get attached to the club quite emotionally. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Nothing wrong with that, of course, but this does not hide the fact that there is life outside of Milan as well. Ask Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Sheva, Brocchi and even Pirlo in a few months time. For my money we should cherish the moments that a certain player played and gave to the club - those are way more powerful than the feelings on the day they move on!

And more then that, we are lucky enough to witness them play - live in stadium, or via mobile phone videos, Youtube and HD feeds, archive matches, photos and what not. Back up till the 90s the media was no where near as strong and a lot of great players did not get their careers captured as they deserved to be.

Thanks, pal. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleepysmiley03.gif)

Who would have thought he'd leave a year after I made that post. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Sure, I knew he'd leave one day, it was a short term commitment, and besides the PSV fans are enamoring him to come back. But deep down inside, I won't lie, I wanted him to continue one more year. The guy's incredibly fit and adjusted quite well in Serie A from the word go!

Anyway, as you said, the memories were short, but every single one was worth it. Best of luck MvB.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/cry.gif) I went from almost hating MvB to LOVING him in just 2 years. what a fantastic player and person. I wish he could stay one more more season. truth be told, losing him feels just as sad as losing Nesta for me.

Was is his decision not to renew or did the club not offer him an extension? (I'm almost certain it's the former but just to make sure...).

Of course a goal would've capped his Milan career perfectly, but it's not that important. the important thing is he put consistently good/great performances and won the Scudetto (as well as the Suppercoppa). I think he's proud of his Milan spell and so are we.

Milan offered him an extension, but like I said he wanted to return to PSV before it's too late. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) And besides, fans at PSV have constantly been begging him to come back and end his career there. He just turned 35 this April, delaying the return for another year would be leaving it a bit too late.

True, but I think he wanted a goal, and tried hard for it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Particularly against Inter in two derbies. But the most important thing is that he adjusted perfectly for us, played any and all matches he could, had a good relationship with everyone at the club, never misbehaved, and gave it all.

And frankly, his contribution last year in the Scudetto win are always to be remembered, he did well in it.

Can't blame him one bit. I don't expect him to put us before PSV, not matter how he loves it here and how we want him to stay.

+1.

The memory of a goal would have been cool, but there are other lovely moments we can remember him with, like piggybacking a Siena player. I still laugh when I remember it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) or this:

Yes, pretty much. He helped us most in those first 6 months, and then some. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But more than that, it were the little moments that I'll cherish the most. 46 matches in a year and half, pretty good.

Totally agree. I'll never forget this one, where he red carded the referee. I saw it live. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I personally think there should be a player like Bommel in every team, one that makes us remember that football, at the end of the day, is a game first and foremost. People like him put the fun back in the experience.

And can't forget all his various training videos on YouTube, interviews as well. Good times!

He said in the interview that his decision was family related.
