There is a thin line between determination and stupidity. He's flirting with it.

Agreed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Especially for a guy who has won and done everything: CL, World Cup, Scudetto, headbutts, brawls, etc.

Well it's up to him and we simply can't know what he think or feels or even what his motives are.

We know that. But,I'd like to believe that we offer a more objective view on this.He was bad before this injury, and it will take him 5 month to recover from it,and he isn't getting any younger. In addition,to the fact that Nocerino showed he can play his position 100 times better.I think it's better that he takes a staff role better than being a useless squad player. He has given his everything to Milan,we can use his experience too. It's the better decision imo whatever his motives are.

He just admitted that he is seeing double...if he can't take the hint that his career may be over I hope the people around him (wife, friends, coach) take the initiative to help him with that realization. That's what a good friend does. As Galliani said there is definitely room for him on the staff. It would be a shame if his passion wasn't channeled onto the training pitch.

I'm sure he's reasonable enough to draw a acceptable conclusion. But we don't know nearly enough to tell and we as well ain't that objective. All I'm gonna do is support him, even if he lost my respect because of last years incident(s)

The full text of the interview comes out...and his words seem to be:

QUOTE
"I hope you see me as a player again, but football will remain my world, both as a player or in other areas"

I have to say the glee that I see among some people thinking he'll never play for us again is just cruel. I hope the day doesn't arrive when footballers are reduced to mere cogs in a machine- discard when worn out.

Nocerino took his place, what's the point of keeping Gattuso on the bench?I'd much rather see him in a staff role.

He can't keep up with the game anymore at a high level, what's wrong with wanting to get rid of him as a player?Or are you trying to sympathize with him?

Well you should read the full text. His reasons for not keeping up with the game are mentioned. And it's almost an apology for all the downhill ride we've been seeing.

Anyway...my reasons are long and plenty...but they're probably not worth my time listing..

There is no glee for me in this. I just want the man to have some self awareness and step off the the pitch before he tarnishes his legacy further. It's tough to watch legends you love struggle to maintain in their later years.

He looks horrible, and plays horribly.

Maybe the nastiest comment I've read on this forum.

Regarding this story, I had no idea Gattuso had eye problems, and according to ESPN is blind in one eye now.

That's really sad because he doesn't deserve it, he's a really good guy.

Is it permanent blindness?

It already arrived bud.

Some of the comments in here about him are as if he's an Inter player.

There seems to be real hatred, which doesn't rise above insulting him further.

Seems that certain fans revel in footballers suffering health problems.

It's not blindness and it's not permanent. He has double vision in his left eye due to nerve damage IIRC.

Also, aside from a handful, all Milan fans love Gattuso, simply because he's given everything he has to this team. He's faught like no other for our colours and that's why I always was, and will still continue to be a Rino fan.

But these days it just pains me to watch him make a mockery out of what he used to be, what he used to stand for. He just doesn't have it in him anymore. I still am behind him 100% no matter what he decides, at the end of the day it's his career and reuptation.

But at some point he has to draw a line. This problem is going to keep him out for 6 months. At this stage of his career, when he's already on a rapid decline, those 6 months might as well be 2 years. The club have offered him a backroom position. If I were him I'd jump at the chance, and I'd love to see him in such a position. He still needs to be involved at Milan some way or another, he's a vital part of this club and our recent success. But continueing to play, even when it might damage his health (problems with your sight in your 30s is not something to joke about) and effect his personal life. You have to draw a line at some point and say enough is enough

What's wrong with the comment. He doesn't like his looks(I don't see anything wrong),and he's stating that he has been playing in a bad manner, nothing nasty.Stop being super sensitive. We all appreciate what Gattuso has done for Milan.
