Yup. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) For all we know, it could have been an empty coffin. Unless they opened and showed the contents inside to the media. Still this is the last thing I would have expected to see in a football match. Scooters and chairs, I have in San Siro.

Not strictly football, but thought it would interest some of you. Milan are in 14th.

Top 200 highest paying teams

Now I can see why Randy was pissed at MON. 5th highest paying team in the EPL? Jesus Christ. Says alot when we're paying out the same as the Knicks!

Anyone noticed the IPL teams in Kurt's list??!! The Royal Challengers Bangalore, The Kolkata Knight Riders etc??

At least with football you can say it's one whole year. But the IPL is on for 2 months!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Yet the highest paid Indian sportsman only earns $1.8m. Strange.

Don't think so. The IPL is a different tournament all together. Different salary. The captain of the Indian team for instance is making 10 million a year all added up.

Great find !! Thanks for sharing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/king.gif)

Funny I always thought MLB and NBA had the highest salaries out of all sports, this proves otherwise.

I think..because the press publishes NBA and MLB salaries as salary for the whole contract.

So while a 50 million salary for 7 years might sound big. It's no bigger than what the second string superstars of a top football club will earn. For eg. a pirlo or a essien.

Well according to ESPN in the same magazine as this, they have how much the top earner per country makes. For India it's MS Dhoni at $1.8m per year. It also says "IPL figures pro rata from weekly pay".

Same, very susprirsed to see 5 football teams in the top 10, including the top 2.

I'm not so sure, 50m over 7 years is still 135k a week which is still alot for a footballer. I think it's evened out by some very small contracts on players who don't play regularly or play positions that don't demand alot of money.

The top MLB and NBA players make the most (ie. A Rod at $26 million a year) but the drop off is huge to what normal players make in those leagues.

But their salaries are gross right? Or is it like football where tax deducted salary is what is talked about. Coz even though Ibra earns 8, effectively Milan play like 14million.

I know, but you'd expect Tevez or Balotelli to be the most paid, not Yaya Toure.

It would be a criminal offence if Balotelli was the most paid in that team. At least Yaya Toure and Tevez go some way about earning theirs.

Yes but the IPL is just one tournament that Dhoni participates in. It lasts roughly 45 days. Basically he gets paid 1.8M a season for playing for this team 'Chennai Super Kings'. On top of that there is the money he gets for playing with the Indian team, which is also pretty huge. And then his endorsements!

Though nowhere near Messi territory, a cricketeer(considering the spread of the game worldwide) earning 10 million a year all put together was a pleasant surprise to me.
