I like. Even though on the left side of the attack I would prefer someone like Cristiano Ronaldo or Robben.

Milan Set To Sign Diarra goal.com

The club will meet the player's agent during the week.

The Rossoneri are closer to sign Mahamadou Diarra from Lyon and according to reports from various newspapers, this week Milan will present an offer to the French club.

However, Lyon are demanding a very high price for their player, in the region of 17 to 20 million Sterlings.

Still, in the coming days Ariedo Braida, General Director of Milan, and Frederic Guerra, the player's agent, will meet to try and reach an agreement.

I think goal.com has been one of the most reliable football sites this summer, and if we get Diarra we would play with a 5 man midfield and probably 1 striker, Dirra would play next to Pirlo in the middle infront of the defense probably since that is his postition

I like Diarra, but I don't like his price tag. I just don't think a defensive midfielder is worth £20m, especially to a club like Milan who has Gattuso, Ambro, Brocchi and Vogel in this position. I would spend the money on another defender and a world class striker!

Also, Carlo dropped the hint earlier today that we'll keep playing 4-3-1-2 next season. How defensive will our midfield look! (assuming he replaces Seedorf)...

Diarra - Pirlo - Gattuso

I don't want Diarra. As m1ke says, we have hordes of DM, and good ones at that. Its a bit of the grass is always greener on the other side, where I dont think hell really add anything.

And at some exorbitant price, where we'll be ripped off of valuable cash which, MUST go to new defenders and a proven goal-scoring striker, those are the cruical posns.

Diarra Close To Roma Move - Report The Lens midfielder declared that he is on his way to Rome.

Alou Diarra is ready for a new challenge in the Italian Serie A and for this reason he would like to join the Giallorossi to improve further and play in the Champions League.

“I have the possibility of a new challenge and if everyone agrees, I will go away,” Diarra declared to “L’Equippe”.

“Roma is an ambitious team, they play in the Champions League and I think that the Italian league is a tournament of high level, which can allow me to improve.

“The negotiations are very advanced and my future will be decided in the coming days or weeks.”

If we're going to play with the Xtree in the next season, then Diarra is indispensable. But if Carlo wants to keep playing with the 4-3-1-2 scheme, then we should concentrate on a good quality stiker. Torres possibly.

I thought that will buy Diarra only to leave some space to breathe for Pirlo and Gattuso
We can have 4 good midfielders - Pirlo ,Seedorf ,Gattuso and Diarra
I dont see Ambro or Vogel replacing Pirlo
Anyway from all that i read seems that MILAN its determined to buy him
Maybe not at that price - 20mil (at least i hope so)

I think Ambro and Vogel will leave...

I can understand people saying Diarra is overpriced but you have to remember that there are plenty of forwards who can score goals, but there is a limited amount of top quality DM's in the game. Diarra, IMO, is the best around followed very closely by Mascherano(although he is unproven in Europe).

QUOTE (dst @ Jul 29 2006, 05:31 PM)
Nooooo his position won't change, his duties will.Look it's easy: in Italy he has both Gattuso and Simone Perrotta, two hard-working heroes to help seal the defence thus he's able to be the playmaker. In Milan on the other hand he only has Gattuso and in addition he has to make up for the mistakes of no-good Kaladze.Just watch a game, focus on Pirlo and you'll see what I mean:it's like there was a wall for him placed on midfield ...
*

dst .. believe it or not Kaladze scored against the merda so I can only think highly of him (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

If diarra comes do u think Carlo would bench Seedorf ? I find that highly unlikely, but it's an option.

Ambro won't leave, but if we get Diarra Vogel might, I'm not sure that it would be this summer though.

I know I'v said this a Million times but if we get Diarra we don't need another striker (maybe Crespo if we manage to get him), we would play a 5 man midfield with one striker.

The only players I want to come are Buffon, Oddo/Gallas (or both, but I don't want to be too demanding) and Diarra and also if they can put in Crespo I would welcome him with open arms
