QUOTE (han2503 @ Jan 5 2010, 08:55 PM) These list have been made before... People were creating World XI when they saw the Kaka money coming our way, but in the end look what we ended up with, a squad that has been weakened, no replacement for him and a panic buy to appease fans when they were too cheap to spring 20m for Fabiano after we recieved the sort of money we did for Kaka.
Selling Pato would be a mistake of massive proportions because we all know we'll end up with the short end of the stick as Silvio and Co don't want to spend money only cover losses. You can make those player lists that we can buy all you want but this isn't football manager. And with that ammount of moeny you would be lucky to buy 1 world class player with the sort of price tags that players have these days, let alone all the guys you're mentioning...
The Kaka sale should be a lesson to all, you can dream all you want about some spending spree as an outcome of a player sale, but that is never going to happen, not with the mantality the board has adapted for these past few years. Some were happy when Kaka were sold because they thought it would be another Zidane-Real-Juve story, where Juve went out and bought a new top class team after selling Zidane, but that is never going to happen, and if we sell Pato we would see the same thing happen. We'de end up losing Pato and bringing in another panic buy to appease the fans after they sold a great player, just like what happened with Sheva and Kak
We've never spent that kind of money in a single transfer window blue! I don't know where you get your figures from but the summer we bought Dinho we didn't really splash the cash either, 20m for Dinho was the largest sum we spent and that only happened because he was Silvio's personal conquest so he swooped in and oinjected the money needed from his own pockets. But other then that we didn't go all out, far from it.
Oh and the Arsenal policy? You mean become a feader club to the rest of Europe's top teams? Because that is what Arsenal are and I have no desire to see Milan become anything like that. Sure teir policy to scout their own talent is great, but after their youngsters become top players they end up losing them, and that is what you're saying when you tell me that you want to sell Pato.
And again, I'm going to remind you of the let down of the summer, you were so convinced after Kaka was sold that we would being in around 7 top players, and aside from the freebies and Huntelaar I don't see were those 7 have disappeared to. Again, this is not Football Manager 2.0, any sum we could potentially get for Pato would not be spent on a spending spree, simple as, we've already been burned twice over with this, losing both Sheva and Kaka and ending up with nothing in return and the massive ammounts of money earned from those transfers dissappearing, as we've never seen that money going into good use and actually rebuilding this ageing team. And what's really even worse about selling Pato compared to Sheva and Kaka, its that Pato is still 20 years old, he hasn't even come close to his peak yet. Wishing that he was sold in the hopes that the team is rebuilt is stupid imo, as that is something our managment is not yet willing to do, maybe when Seedorf and Pirlo and rolling around in wheel chaires and are strapped to machines to keep their lungs pumping maybe they'll buy a decent player.... + infinityCan't believe people are talking about how good selling Pato would be!!! clearly what we went through after selling Sheva and Kaka hasn't acted as a lesson... we're not that kind of club that sells superstars/great players and buys new ones! I thought every Milan fan knew that already!

I agree that selling Pato would be a bad idea. For the same reasons han already pointed out quite accurate. About those numbers blue came up with: As far as I know we roughly spent 50 million Euro in the summer of 08. Mainly for Ronnie and Zambrotta. But we also cashed in a significant amount of about 40 million. Almost 15 for Gila and 10 for Oliveira.
The future concept for the club? As much as it hurts me to say this. I think we should think about adapting Bayern Munichs strategy. Investing in the clubs youth, buying the best players from the national league AND improving the team with one or two international stars. Bayern are one of the few clubs with a very healthy financial record AND economic power.

Telelombardia had market expert Giulio Mola analyse Milan's transfer market. He seemed to think that the winter buys are over, especially since Adiyiah's purchase means no more non-EU players. He also seems to think that Milan are already working on summer buys, particularly Dzeko and possibly Gareth Bale, who he seems to think is one of the better fullbacks in circulation. And market guy Furio Fedele - on the same show as Mola - said he thought Milan's 2 summer non-EU buys would be Dzeko and Krasic.
Tuttomercatoweb seems to think that the following players may be on their way out now or in the summer, for varying reasons: Huntelaar, Abbiati, Jankulovski, Kaladze.

QUOTE (Bluesummers @ Jan 6 2010, 12:49 PM) Why shouldn't we spend the money? Its not silvio's club anymore really. If were made to stand on our own feet than why can't we spend the revenue we generate. I mean thats the whole point of having a transfer market isn't it? It is Silvios club. It doesn't matter how much he's willing to do for it, he still owns it. The other question is: Does the club really generate revenue? Cause, restructuring from a club which can rely on an owner to a club whih is supposed to stand on it's own feet takes some time. It's not done within one or two years.

Nah. It's Milaniosis. It's a disease that affects most keepers, who suddenly choose to have the game of their lives against Milan. We've seen it quite a bit over the last seasons. Marchetti FTW!

Tuttomercatoweb has the following prematch quote from Galliani: QUOTE Adriano Galliani parla prima dell'inizio del posticipo tra Milan e Genoa: "Beckham? [Adriano Galliani spoke before the beginning of Milan-Genoa: 'Beckham? It's a deal that was set up last summer and we're very happy to have him with us. He's a very useful player who can play a lot of roles. He can play on the right, behind the strikers and in midfield. The market is closed even though we're still working on the youth sector. Hottor from Triestina, for example, will arrive on Monday. For the young, we're attentive, for the first team we're set. Tomorrow I'll see Huntelaar's lawyer, who's coming from Holland, but I'm not telling you what the response will be. Verdi? He's a good kid Leonardo likes. I think he'll get a run out in the Coppa Italia.']
