The thing about Astori is that he's not a regular starter at Cagliari. He's good and I like him but that bit makes me wonder. If we're going to bring back a youth player from Cagliari, I'd prefer Matri right now, based on form. He's done very well indeed this season.
But even more than those two guys, I'd prefer a really good wingback.

QUOTE Real Madrid To Offer €63 Million For Milan Ace Alexandre Pato - Report
Real Madrid are set to kick off another spending spree with a mammoth bid for Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato, according to reports from Italy.
La Repubblica claims that the Milan frontman has emerged as one of Los Blancos' key targets in the winter transfer window, with coach Manuel Pellegrini intent on bolstering his squad for a title showdown with rivals Barcelona.
It is thought that the Rossoneri have indicated a refusal to negotiate with the Spanish giants. But, in a similar circumstance to their pursuit of Kaka, it is thought that a suitable bid would force Milan to consider the offer.
Pato ironically orchestrated Real Madrid’s downfall in the Champions League this season, netting twice at the Santiago Bernabeu as Milan went on to secure a famous 3-2 victory.
He made the switch to the San Siro in 2007 and is contracted until the summer of 2012, but that is unlikely to deter President Florentino Perez from making an audacious swoop.
The 20-year old is generally regarded as Brazil’s best emerging talent, and will be an important member of A Selecao for this year’s World Cup in South Africa.
Paul Macdonald, Goal.com before everyone flips out and gets their panties in a twist; this is most likely fake. We won't sell pato in January; so no need to worry. But saying this; I would personally sell him if madrid offered that sort of money. Another 65M euros could really do us a favor. Selling Pato would be a huge loss but this is AC Milan not AC Pato and if selling one world class player could bring 2 or 3 quality players, I would be all for it. with 65 M we could sign: Dzeko: 25 M Krasic: 15 M Cricsito or a LB: 10 M Marchetti: 10 M Paloschi: 5 M Look at those possible options and thats not even including out summer transfer fund received from participation in the CL. Kaka cleared our debt. Pato rebuilds our team. --- But I highly doubt this will happen; at least not for 65 M. If we'll sell him it'll be around 80 probably. - QUOTE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ News: Milannews.it is reporting that we are linked with 2 players for the attack for the January window. Douglas Costa (eu pass) 19 years old plays for Gremio. Estimated price is around 8 M. Moussa Demble (eu pass) 22 years old plays for AZ Alkmaar. Estimated price around 10-12 M

For those not familiar with the Italian press, Repubblica is a paper generally thought of as rather liberal/leftist (socialist, however. not communist). As such, it can generally be relied upon to be harshly critical of Berlusconi and anything connected with him (including Milan). Also, it's a Rome based paper and in general terms, Rome based papers aren't all that accurate regarding transfer stuff for the northern clubs (both clubs in Milan, the gobbi, the Genoa clubs, etc).

Both Mediaset and tuttomercatoweb are reporting that Milan are taking a look at Hamburg's Guy Demel. Demel is Ivorian, but with a French passport (so EU) and plays both as CB and as RB.

He is more likely to play with Cagliari than with Milan at the moment QUOTE (Bluesummers @ Jan 4 2010, 05:19 AM) Huntelaar is holding us back from making any foreward signings. If he goes on Loan, I hope we sign someone. Bring back paloschi (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ------- Matri would be an amazing signing. But he's Cagliari's player and we don't own any part of him. He'll cost around 5-10m is my guess, which is too high for our budget (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Same as above, Paloschi should wait until the summer, bringing him back now would not be beneficial to his development as he is a regular for Parma but wont be for us
