The England U19s beat the France U19s 3-1 after ET today to make the finals of the U19 European Championships. The French were a dirty bunch, they finished with 8 men! Villa's Nathan Delfouneso picked up the 2 goals in ET to win the game for the 3 Lions, well done lad! 4 goals in 4 games in the tournement now.

Delfouneso's 2nd goal - Fantastic stuff on the ball there, really got high hopes for this one. More like Yorke, less like Vassell please.

Ukraine currently lead Serbia 3-1 in the other SF.

England to play Ukraine in the final, the group game between the two finished 2-2. That's the final in both the U19s and U21s we've made this year, thankfully we actually have some available players for this one!

Yes, Dwight, came through the Villa youth system (after we took him from a school over in T&T).

Yep. Both broke all goal scoring records for the youth teams. Both had a great start to their Villa careers. One went stale, left to Man City, did nothing and ended up in Turkey. The other went on to be Uniteds top scorer for a few years and helped them to the treble. They were both very, very similar players, that's the difference hard work can make.

Ah so you wish to see him play for Birmingham City one day, huh?

How could Yorke do that by the way? Especially after spending so many years at Villa, I don't think I'd be able to play for my team's city's rivals even if I had only spend a single season with them.

He left us in a bad way, Villa fans really turned on him despite what he did for us, so he went to Birmingham and labelled them the 'biggest club in the City'.. they got relegated. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Though when Sunderland played at Villa Park the other season, due to him being 38 and it being unlikely that he'd play here again, the whole ground gave him a standing ovation when he came on.

Garmash scores for the hosts. Delfouneso has a goal (wrongly) disallowed for offside.

England beat Portugal 1-0 today. Portugal sit 3rd in the group, behind England and Greece who're both unbeaten I think. Portugals Under-21s aren't faring too well in the last few years.

Switzerland beat Nigeria 1-0 in what was seen as a huge shock in the U17 World Cup Final. I probably wouldn't have noticed but the Switzerland keeper, Benjamin Siegrist is in the youth academy and won the 'Golden Glove award' for being the best keeper in the tournement, a big well done to him. If he can be half as good as Friedel and Guzan then that's fantastic. Especially with England U19 keeper Elliot Parish also on our books. I like.

England won the Euro U17s for the first time, beating Spain.

We need to find a way to progress our players. Development isn't an issue (for some reason some think it is?) as we consistantly produce some very good, young players. But we can't seem to bring them on to that World class level. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

The doom and gloomers can shut up for another year, the U21s qualified for the Championships. I'm still waiting for this 'England have no players coming through' thing. The Germans didn't qualify, does this mean their future is in ruin? Thought not.

Goalkeepers
Frankie Fielding (Blackburn Rovers), Scott Loach (Watford), Jason Steele (Middlesbrough)

Defenders
Joe Bennett (Middlesbrough), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Martin Kelly (Liverpool), Ben Mee (Leicester City - loan from Manchester City), Micah Richards (Manchester City), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), James Tomkins (West Ham United), Kyle Walker (Aston Villa - loan from Tottenham Hotspur)

Midfielders
Marc Albrighton (Aston Villa), Jack Cork (Burnley - loan from Chelsea), Fabian Delph (Aston Villa), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Southampton), Jordan Henderson (Sunderland), Henri Lansbury (Norwich City - loan from Arsenal), Fabrice Muamba (Bolton Wanderers), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Scott Sinclair (Swansea City)

Forwards
Nathan Delfouneso (Aston Villa), Jay Rodriguez (Burnley), Daniel Sturridge (Bolton Wanderers - loan from Chelsea)

This has got to be one of the strongest U21 squads I've seen, incredible. Usually our squads are full of fringe players and backups, but the majority of these lot are playing a decent amount of football.
