QUOTE (han2503 @ Jun 18 2009, 11:45 PM) Pato is loyal to the guy that preferred to keep him on the bench in order to play Seedorf as an attacking mid?? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) Sorry this just does not make any sense to me. I'm pretty sure it was Leo that insisted on him and is the one that convinced him to join Milan in the first place as there were offers from Real and Chelsea for him when we bought him. For me this is all the British media's attemp at grasping at straws. They're recycling things Pato said over and over and everytime making them more dramatic in order to make it seem like he wants to go to Chelsea. The English league is taking a backseet to the Spanish and the media just cannot stand to see that happen. I say FINALLY and good riddance!!! Notice that he seemed to have said it to Corriere and not the Sun or NotW. However you're right..I hope it's just some old comment he made a long time back being recycled. I love Carlo, but I don't think Milan can do without Pato or Pirlo right now.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jun 18 2009, 10:43 PM) I generally only bite on something if it's a close run thing, if Spain were even close to being as good as the Premier League recently, I'd probably argue it's case. But the strength in depth and representation in the Champions League over the last few years is pretty much incomparable to another league. You're right but you can already see the tides turning. Pretty soon England's best young foreign players are all going to go to Spain. The ball will start to roll now that Ronaldo decided to leave, no doubt the Premier League's poster boy, then it will be Fabregas and so on and so forth. I think it's high time the English league finally takes a step back. These things go in cycles, and England's is about to end. I love Carlo, but I don't think Milan can do without Pato or Pirlo right now. He could have only said "'Carlo Ancelotti is a coach and a person who is very important to me," to Il Corriere, but now that the comment is out there any paper could spin the comment every which way. These little news snippets we get on goal.com and channel4 are round ups of what the gossip papers are saying. That's why everything that is written there should be taken with a grain of salt

I think it's high time the English league finally takes a step back. These things go in cycles, and England's is about to end. I agree it won't last forever, it's funny how football works like this. Throughout the mid 70s/early 60s it was England, late 80s/early 90s it was Italy, then moved onto spain in the early part of this century, now it's England again.. looks like it's skipped by Italy this time around. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Yep, and it's their fault. Italians never want to move forward and make changes. A very basic example is how the clubs are run. The league is run in just the same manner. The old stadiums, that do not even belong to the clubs, the way television rights money is split, just the basic concept of marketing is lost on the Italians. Unless they get their heads out of their @sses and start moving forward from this old mentality then Italy will drop behind the Germans

QUOTE (Channel 4) Pato to follow Carletto Friday 19 June, 2009 Milan starlet Alexandre Pato has reiterated his desire to follow his former Coach Carlo Ancelotti to Chelsea.
The explosive striker, who is currently in South Africa with the Brazilian national team for the Confederations Cup, had previously expressed his attachment to the Rossoneri shirt.
“Ancelotti is very important to me,” said the youngster.
“He was the one who wanted me in Milan and gave me the chance to grow up as a player.”
Pato is currently tied to Milan by a long term contract and the Rossoneri want to hold on to him for the time being.
“I have a contract with Milan but I would be seriously interested if Chelsea called me,” confessed the striker.
These comments are likely to upset Vice-President Adriano Galliani who has already explained on several occasions that the young Brazilian represents the future of Milan. Pardon my French, but what a prick. Not only is this disrespectful to the club, but is he talking about the same Carlo who willingly benched him off and on? If that's going to be his attitude, then he can shove off as far as I'm concerned.

If that's going to be his attitude, then he can shove off as far as I'm concerned. Personally I'm taking all of these things with a grain of salt. Every day it's the same old thing but with something extra added on to it. Yesterday it was "I have a contract with Milan and I will honour it" and today the sentence has become “I have a contract with Milan but I would be seriously interested if Chelsea called me,”. Again all these reports should be taken with a big grain of salt. I highly doubt Pato is as attached to Carlo as the papers are making it seem, it not like the others were they have been under him ever since he came. He's not even been coached by him for 2 whole seasons. And the only reason Pato got any chance was because of his efferts only because had he not performed Carlo would have benched him in seconds flat. Let's not forget Carlo is the guy who constantly benched him in order to play Seedorf as an AM. I don't think Pato's relatioship with Carlo was ever that strong.

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jun 19 2009, 06:05 PM) Pato won't be here long, unfortunately. It seems very rare to get a young kid with a decent attitude nowadays. Messi really is one of a kind. Especially now in hard times, these kind of players will have a hard time being devoted to a club that's going down faster then a sinking ship... But I do think that maybe Pato might be fishing for a better contract. He's among the lowest earners on the team, and no doubt that Kaka's left he's the only true star player we have left. I don't think he'd settle for earning as much as Favalli. Especially when players like Ambro are demanding 4.5m a season (IMG: style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Jun 19 2009, 06:13 PM) Does anyone know what sort of money Pato is on? If it is low like han suspects, maybe that's his reason for talking up a move away. I'm pretty sure he's with the lower class when it comes to salary. I think it was Tennie that once posted a list of all the players and their salaries but it was a while back and would be hard to find now

I just found out that the quotes are supposedly old news, according to R&B.
Nonetheless, han could be right, as Pato was one of the lower earners this season, because no way was he going to earn as much as the veterans after playing less than a full campaign after he'd signed. He may be a star in the making, but he also has to pay his dues.
Abs wasn't making a king's ransom either despite being Milan's #1 this past term, yet he didn't publicly make a fuss about it, whether subtly or upfront.

I think Abbiati was just happy to finally be out of the shadows at Milan. And he's no 19 year old wonder kid that can make demands and hints about other teams. Situations are completly different
