Thanks Tennie. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Unfortunately the only resemblance I see between this and the Sheva of old is the name. His jersey number, playing style, speed, morale, confidence, and hairstyle all have changed. The name is the only thing that ties him to his past. Our past. I do hope he comes up and scores well more than 10 goals this season. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Ronaldo came close to that figure in half a season, a couple of years back. So too can the Ukrainian. Best of luck to our new number 76. Changing topics, Tennie, it seems like you're back. How was the trip? Any special events and experiences to share?

QUOTE (Tennie @ Sep 1 2008, 10:42 PM) (IMG: http://i36.tinypic.com/2ueoaok.jpg) From Sunday. Thought some would appreciate seeing this. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I know some still feel that he shouldn't have come back but it's good seeing him back in our shirt, it 'fits'. Come on you want Sheva to grow his hair out like he did in 05. That was a pretty girly doo. He always played better when it was cropped really short. I think we should make a petition and send it over (IMG: style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) As for him not being anything like that Sheva. You can't really make any judgments on what we saw. Even when criticising his speed, Sheva was never really a fast player for example like Kaka, he was about his touch and finishing. And he could go missing in a game but it would only take him a second to get the ball in a good position make a great first touch to take him away from his marker and score. That was how Sheva was, I don't know what the English were expecting from him or if they really ever saw Sheva play aside from some CL games because from their words you get the impression that they were expecting Sheva to be a Maradona of some sort.

That was how Sheva was, I don't know what the English were expecting from him or if they really ever saw Sheva play aside from some CL games because from their words you get the impression that they were expecting $heva to be a Maradona of some sort. $heva was KNOWN for his speed...I remember reading a UEFA article that praised his pace. The type of striker that you are describing imho is a poacher-Trezuget type which $heva never was. That's partly why he had so many troubles at Chel$ki. He was known for being heavily involved in the buildup play and many of his goals were opportunities that he carved out for himself. He wasn't exactly a Maradonna type striker but like Kaka he liked the ball at his feet and he loved to run at defenders. He once scored a goal v.s. Vincenza (I still have the clip) where he took on about 3 defenders and worked his way to goal and scored......I fear that those days are but a memory P.S. Sorry to all for my part in the last bit of nonsense. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

QUOTE (Kaka Is Brilliant @ Sep 1 2008, 04:34 AM) I think you guys either remember Sheva as some superman and you expect that again or you're just being harsh. Even when Sheva was in his peak he didn't have a massive impact in the game, like on the ball 24/7 etc, he'd just take his chances when given. He isn't as impressive as say a C.Ronaldo or a Ronaldinho in his peak but he was a damn good striker.
Often being quiet for most of the game then bang a moment of genious and the game was won. But don't expect him to be running rings around players, doing fancy tricks etc because he very rarely ever did. QUOTE (han2503 @ Sep 2 2008, 11:48 AM) As for him not being anything like that Sheva. Ha, glad to see someone agrees. I really don't know why people expect all of this from him now all of a sudden. Or as I said in my post maybe it's them being harsh on him so they can prove their point...

Kaka can run an entire game sprinting from his own half Sheva was never like that. I'm not desrcibing a poacher, yes he took on players and could create chances out of nothing (mostly long range shots) but his speed was only used in short distances. Most his goal were either Kaka/Rui slot the ball to him, he takes a touch and sprint the short distance to score, or Pirlo/Seedorf lifting a ball for him over the defence, takes a touch, runs the short distance and scores. And just because he could dribble does not automatically make him quick.... And he likes to get involved in the buildup play because he's got a great range of passing for a striker and is a really smart player tactically

Totally agree with this, especially after seeing most take out their 'I was right' banner after just 45 minutes after having a 6 month lay off
