This thread was originally going to be U21 thread however with the Olympics and Toulon tournament in mind i decided to change it to U23
So, some of you may know that the annual Toulon tournament will run from 20-29th May. It is being held in Toulon in France. Matches are 80 minutes not 90
The teams are Italy, Ivory Coast, Turkey, USA, France, Japan, Chile and Holland
Italy's squad has been announced;
Guarente (Atalanta); Pelle' (AZ Alkmaar); Lanzafame (Bari); Acquafresca e Canini (Cagliari); Abate, Bassi, Giovinco, Marchisio e Marzoratti (Empoli); Osvaldo (Fiorentina); Bocchetti (Frosinone); Nocerino (Juventus); De Silvestri (Lazio); Cigarini e Dessena (Parma); Dellafiore e Motta (Torino); De Ceglie e Galloppa (Siena); Coda (Udinese); Alfonso (Venezia).
(bolded players have some kind of connection to Milan)
We have been linked with Canini, so this will be a good way to see his abilities first hand. I will watch all of Italy's matches and update this thread, but i cant give guarantees on the other teams
Relevant fixtures
Wednesday, May 21 - 12:00 p.m. ET Italy vs. Ivory Coast
Friday, May 23 - 2:30 p.m. ET Italy vs. Turkey
Sunday, May 25 - 12:00 p.m. ET Italy vs. United States

Finally. Goal Brazil. Sobis actually did something useful, probably the first time all game.

Ha. Given the walking infirmary that Milan's been the last two seasons, perhaps I am a bit pessimistic. (On my wall is an article from Gazzetta from Nov 2006. It's got pictures of the Milan players with little band-aid icons over where their injuries are. there are 13 guys pictured). Then again, given how rough Cameroon have been perhaps it was better to rest Pato for this game rather than risk a nasty injury.

QUOTE (Rossoneri7 @ Aug 16 2008, 07:00 PM) I'm afraid .. he did get injured ... During warm ups Oh well, that can't be a more-than-two-days injury then (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Anyhow, reading the Italy-Belgium game match reports, it seems that the referee helped Belgium to progress by giving the first Belgium goal when the ball had not crossed the line, not giving two obvious penalties and, disallowing 2 proper Italian goals and also not sending off the striker as well when giving Viviano his marching orders since it was the striker who threw the ball into Viviano's face. If this is true then... (IMG: style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

The commentary I read wasn't happy about the refereeing - particularly the goal which they don't think crossed the line. They didn't have a problem with Viviano being sent off, however. He did react even if he was provoked.
Eee injured Duck?
