QUOTE (kurtsimonw @ Aug 14 2008, 02:56 AM) Frank Lampard has signed a nea 5-year £36m contract with Chelsea. Man City have made an offer of £12m for Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz.. I thought they had no money? (IMG: style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Saw that, guaranteed to stay this summer I can still see him leaving next though, just not on a free... And who knows about Man City at the moment, just a guessing game for the media.

Thaksin's assets in Thailand are frozen right? That's the only area where the Thai government has jurisdiction. One of my chat pals says, that means about 1.8 billion pounds worth of cash+assets. He says this still leaves him with 2.6 billion in hand. It's not the money that's important here.
What is important is, if Thailand put in a formal extradition plea to UK, for Thaksin to be tried for crimes in Thailand. In which case, Thaksin will be deported and have to face charges, and almost certainly a prison sentence. Of course, this would violate the EPL's norms for owners, and he could no longer be in charge. Maybe he will hire a representative or something to act on his behalf while he's 'unofficially' owner.

Thanks for that Jack, I'm not sure what the EPL rules are on it though so I don't know whether he'd be allowed any involvement in the club anymore - including his money. Oh, and I have more news to make you happy, Jack. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) QUOTE Martin O'Neill has made a £7m offer for the Newcastle United winger James Milner as he looks to further strengthen Aston Villa's squad. The manager this week signed the Rangers defender Carlos Cuéllar for £7.8m and has made Milner, an England Under-21 international, his next target. Newcastle's manager, Kevin Keegan, faces a possible battle with his board over Milner. He is keen to keep the 22-year-old but will most likely have to sell players to achieve his ambition of adding to his squad this month and the club's owner, Mike Ashley, will be sorely tempted to accept an offer for Milner. Ashley revealed this week that Newcastle still owe £27m in outstanding payments on transfer deals completed before he took over. Keegan has fought hard to try to keep Alan Smith at the club amid interest from teams including Everton and will be preparing himself for a similar scenario involving Milner, who played for Villa on loan in 2005-06 while on Newcastle's books. GuardianI'd be very pleased if we got him, especially at that price. Already played for the club, only 22 years old and amazingly has 6 years of EPL experience! He would sort out our RM problem, leaving us just needing goal poacher type striker to really complete our squad. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Hahaha...sure. We'll trade him for Barry+cash. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Or you could give us Agbonkarachi...(IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) (acid911 will probably get the joke...I hope it's not offensive!). 7 million for an English prospect. Haven't you heard? They don't go for below 15.. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Wouldn't want you to think I was poking fun at Lahore. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Of course, you can respond by making fun of Shravanabalegola..

My whole country is a bit of a joke, really, so I don't mind. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) At least by making jokes it's being put to good use. Today is our day of Independence (August 14), and we lucky enough to have a little bomb blast in the market near where I live in Lahore. And while I keep hearing of all those bombs going off in remote areas, it is completely another thing seeing in the news the places where I've been to, to grab music CDs, where we last went out for McDonalds, the Adidas store where we bough our Milan jersey, and what not. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) And no, I won't respond by making fun of Shravanabalegola - it's probably more safe there. Oh well, happy independence day, everybody. Have fun.
