I think it's a little harsh to say that Ivanovic had the time to get in shape, because he didn't. He was bought by Chelsea in the Russian off-season, he was not in training - like players from all countries aren't in the off-season - and Chelsea bought him pretty out of the blue. Even if he was fit, I'm not sure a team doing well in both the league and Champions League would want to throw a player into the first team, especially as Carvalho and Terry both had good seasons. It comes down to a number of things, getting used to playing with certain keepers, how they like to receive the ball, etc.

They dont have that many CBs(Carvalho,Terry,Alex). They even used Essien as CB instead of Ivanovic. Lack of match fitness is a poor excuse because he had the time to get in shape.

I can't prove that he is not worth it but u can't prove me wrong either.

and ben haim

thats 5 CB all of whom are class, thats alot considering carvalho and especially terry and guaranteed starters for most games.

essien was used as one 2 seasons ago when ivanovic wasnt around and when they had lack of depth then they went out and bought 3.

He has ZERO appearances for Chelsea since he joined them. I don't think this dude is the answer to our problems.

this is funny though, you are basing your opinion purely on 1 stat and i bet you've never seen this guy play which is the most important thing.

Yeah, due to those English work permit issues. I think Chesea currently have another player on loan at PSV for 3 years, some Brazillian guy.

Ah, thought you were on about now. Good signing? I dunno, don't see where he fits. The only way he should get into that team is if he can play LB or if Corluka leaves and he plays RB - or CB and Micah moves to RB.

He was? Although, looking on Chelsea's wiki page, he's not even listed as one of their out on loan players. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)

He will be their starting CB. They didn't paid £5m to put him on the bench.

I have seen him play and nowadays it's not that hard to get info on players if u got a computer. Im not bashing Ivanovic, its just that i'm doubtful if he can fix our defence problem.

There is speculation that this guy could come to Milan. It is very possible that he might be here within one week!
And it is possible that he might not .. But fact of the matter is that if Milan could reach common grounds with Chelsea, he will be a Milan player. My source is Gazzetta.

I am not overly excited about this one in particular, because I have no idea what this player can do .. I have never watched him (or I don't recall watching him). But all I can say is, if Milan are after him, they must see something in him.

Ancelotti Slams Door On Ivanovic
The Rossoneri’s injuries at the back have caused concern for the coach, and reports in Italy suggest that he may consider making another dip into the market before the transfer window closes.

Ivanovic was tipped as the favourite but Ancelotti has given his take on the whole affair.

“Who do I prefer? Ivanovic? Alex Silva? To be honest, neither of them,” Ancelotti told Tuttosport.

“I am a little concerned about the injuries but it will take some time for the players to recover.

“As for anything else regarding injuries, it’s the doctors who are in charge of these matters, not me.”

Alessandro Nesta’s on-going back problem has caused Il Diavolo to panic but it doesn’t look serious enough to warrant the arrival of another player.

Milan will be challenging for the Scudetto this term and Ancelotti needs to ensure he has a decent enough squad at his disposal to be able to do so.

oh well at least we signed dinho (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

^^ Nuh, I wouldn't worry based on that article. It's quoting Tuttosport. Tuttosport is a Turin-based paper that's wonderful for news if you're a Juve (or Toro) fan, but not-so-accurate (okay, usually wildly biased) for news about any other club. (in other words, if you see a Milan-related article citing Tuttosport as a source, take it with a HUGE grain of salt and look for corroboration from another source).

Additionally, Ancelotti's quoted statements come from his pregame press conference (see page 5 or so of the Man City match thread) and they're being..creatively used.
