To end this, it is a FACT that Wenger has used less money during his 12 years at Arsenal than Mourinho did in three years at Chelsea, and Wenger has earnt back almost everything he ever used on transfers with the sales of Overmars, Petit, etc.

Anyways, the summers longest transfer saga looks like it could be over, thanks to the terrible math skills of Rafa Benitez. MON has repeatedly told Liverpool that he will not budge from £18m, but would accept £16m + Finnan.. so Liverpool have no offered £17.5m + Finnan. Now, why he's wasting that last £1.5m I'm not sure.. Well it isn't like Wenger hasn't been on the transfer market since 03/04, and in case you forget it, the most expensive transfer(s) of all time took place before 2003.

We're talking about Wenger here, and his Arsenal transfers, so that means we're talking about the EPL. And if you'd read my previous posts you'd have found this..

But we're talking about a time where the EPL didn't have much money, and it was the Spanish and Italian clubs paying the big prices.

So yeah, I do know that the bigger transfers were done abroad back then - hence this statement.

Fabregas was free.. As for Henry, yeah, good signing wasn't he? But he signed for a decent amount of money back then, so wouldn't you expect him to be good?

A good signing is like you said before, Toure for £500k or Vieira for £3m. And his transfers that rank as "shockingly bad" still outnumber his "good" transfers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

And talking of north London clubs, apparently Spurs have agreed fee's totalling £36m for Bentley & Arshavin. Obviously no good team wanted the latter and he was too up himself and has now made himself look ratehr foolish. they have some quality defenders: richards, corluka, dunn has been pretty impressive of late.

Fernandes was a real smart singing for them.

Portuguese midfielder Amaury Bischoff joins Arsenal
Arsenal can today confirm the signing of midfielder Amaury Bischoff.
The French-born Portugal Under-21 international, 21, was a youngster with French clubs SR Colmar and Strasbourg before moving to Werder Bremen in 2005.
Bischoff, who can play either in the centre of midfield or on the right, was a regular at youth levels for Werder Bremen. His one senior appearance for the Bundesliga club came against Celta Vigo in the UEFA Cup in 2007.
Amaury has played for France's Under-18 team, however in 2007 he elected to train with Portugal and to date has appeared for their Under-21 side.
Everyone at Arsenal Football Club would like to welcome Amaury, who will wear squad No 28, and will join up with his team-mates for pre-season when the squad returns from their training camp in Austria.

Whne it comes to an opinion on a managerm yeah I'll say whether I don't like him or not. But I don't think me not liking anyone would have any bearing on how good I think they are at transfers. But we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

This evening, Aston Villa can announce that Gareth Barry will be staying with the club following the interest from Liverpool over recent months.

During discussions in the past few days, a final deadline to conclude this episode was set that all parties were aware of and agreed to. This deadline has now passed and so Gareth will remain with Villa.

Martin O'Neill tonight spoke of his delight at the news Gareth Barry will be staying at Villa Park next season.

As we exclusively revealed earlier today, Villa set a deadline for Liverpool to pursue their interest in the England international. That deadline passed at tea-time and Barry will not be moving to Anfield.

O'Neill never gave up hope that Barry could be persuaded to stay and consistently reiterated his desire to keep the player.

Tonight the Villa boss told www.avfc.co.uk: "Naturally we're all absolutely delighted that Gareth will be staying at Villa Park and relieved that there is resolution and closure to the transfer saga.

"At a very positive meeting on Monday it was agreed between Gareth, his agent, Mr Lerner and myself that a deadline should be communicated to Liverpool to finally resolve the situation.

"Liverpool were informed and that deadline came and passed. Now we can all look forward to the season ahead with relief, anticipation and ambition."
