Marcello Lippi will replace Carlo Ancelotti on the Milan hotseat next season, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

The reputable newspaper claims that a switch will occur after such a move was already considered by the Italian giants last year.

Ancelotti is said to be looking for a new challenge and the European and world champions are ready to let him go.

The newspaper is already suggesting that Carletto is considering a future with Spanish giants Barcelona or even the Italian national side.

Milan, who have won almost every trophy attainable with Ancelotti since his 2001 arrival, will cope with his departure by appointing Lippi.

The 59-year-old has been out of the game since winning the 2006 World Cup and has been waiting for the right offer.

After rejecting a host of foreign jobs and even a Juventus return last summer, it’s understood that the option of bossing Milan is ideal.

It’s even claimed that Milan are lining up a move for Barcelona’s Gianluca Zambrotta with the full backing of Lippi.

Marcello, who carved his reputation during two spells at Juventus, will reportedly hire Angelo Peruzzi as his assistant.

The former goalkeeper retired from the game in June 2007 and worked with Lippi at Juventus, Inter and with the Azzurri.

Okay, the article comes from Corriere, which I don't think is really that credible for Milan-related news (despite what the channel 4 article says). And this article comes after yesterday's article stating that Lippi was going to join the Zebras as a technical director.

Still, Lippi coaching Milan is an interesting idea.

I think the article's wrong; if Ancelotti leaves, I think it'll be a Milan alum who takes over for him.

It's a lie. It's unfounded, it won't happen and I wouldn't want it to happen.

He's got a merda heritage. It was a bad time for him though. I wonder however if our luck with Inter flops will carry on to coaches as well.

If Lippi comes, we'd have Quaresma for sure. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

But seriously, this isn't happening. Expect Carletto to come out in a few days (if we win against Viola) to say he's staying put. And Galliani to repeat the same.

But for the record, for me Lippi is numero uno choice.

@august_milan:

Lippi's said many times, that Quaresma is the first player he would buy for a team he was managing. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
