Gattuso Out Of Arsenal Clash

AC Milan have received a huge blow after Gennaro Gattuso was ruled out for around 50 days with injury, meaning that he will miss both legs of the Champions League tie with Arsenal.

Gattuso has picked up a serious muscle strain and has immediately been withdrawn from the Milan squad set to travel to Florence for this Sunday’s crucial trip to Fiorentina.

The 30-year-old hardman had struggled at times this season for form, but it seemed as though he was returning to something near his very best after an improved performance against Genoa last weekend, and a rampaging display in the midweek win at Reggina.
Gattuso will also miss the Serie A matches with Siena, Parma, Livorno, Palermo, Catania, Lazio and Empoli.

If estimates are correct he should return in time for the week 28 trip to the Stadio Olimpico to face Roma.

Most worrying for Milan will be his absence from the Champions League knockout tie with Arsenal. The first leg in London is on February 20, with the return on March 4.

Gattuso will also naturally be ruled out of Italy’s international friendly with Portugal in Zurich next week.

The ex-Rangers man is a notoriously fast healer and Milan fans will be hoping for a miraculous recovery in time for the super-clash with Arsenal.

Come on now, this is not so bad. If we play with two forwards, Ambrosini can take Rino's place. Now I'm not the biggest fan of Ambro but he can do the job.

i think ambro could do the job

but this proves a serious problem we've all been saying...we have no REAL talent that can step in for our starters

Problem is that there's no guarantee Ronaldo will be there for Arsenal game, and I'm not sure if Carlo dares to play Pato in an important game with such atmosphere.

look at all the other teams, everyone has at least 2-3 injuries. we need quality players on the bench, lets say a guy like essien for example on the team, it could easily work to have kaka, pirlo, gattuso, seedorf, ambro and essien compete for the 4 spots in midfield. it's not even matter of having 4 regulars and the 2 of them are subs. theres such a as ROTATION oh and INJURIES (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) it's not hard to for see this. each guy would be guaranteed a good 30 games per year which is good. (except maybe ambro)

i mean even before our injuries we were struggling. it's more than just a matter of lacking depth, we lacking quality in our starting 11 in several positions. it's become quite clear certain players are too old to perform.

Unlike Inter, for example.

Ambrosini can do "the Rino" job? It's like saying that Park or Fletcher can do a Cristiano job in United. Not even in their wet-dreams.

Gazzetta's article (finally up on their website) is estimating 20-30 days out. 3 weeks is a long time but it's better than 6.

Gennaro Gattuso’s thigh strain will only keep him out for three weeks rather than the feared two months.

It had originally been reported the Milan midfielder would be out of action for at least 50 days after he limped off against Reggina on Wednesday evening.

Today the Rossoneri conducted further tests and announced that Gattuso could return in around three weeks.

He has suffered a strain to the femoral bicep in his right leg.

This means the World Cup winner will miss out on Sunday’s trip to Fiorentina, the first leg of the Champions League clash with Arsenal on February 20 and Italy’s friendly against Portugal.

There is also the real risk Gattuso will not be able to recover in time for the second leg against the Gunners on March 4 at San Siro.

it's just a pure luck that he managed to injure after the winter transfer break...nor i think we would acctually sign or loan someone to replace him, obviously emerson and brocchi togetger can't replace gattuso...but maybe pirlo will play now more on the side with emerson in the centre, like on wednesday's match...4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1...maybe even 4-4-2 (4-4-1-1)...we'll see
