The 31-year-old only signed for Milan from Lazio a year ago, and he enjoyed a great first six months at the club, helping them win the Champions League.
However this season things have been very different, and Oddo’s form has been particularly poor.
This has led to a lot of criticism in the Italian press, and Rossoneri boss Carlo Ancelotti even admitted last week that he had been leaving the wing-back out of the team recently because he had been struggling for form.
Oddo was restored to the starting line-up in the 2-0 win yesterday over Genoa, and he produced a fine display, making a number of buccaneering runs down the right, and whipping in some trademark crosses.
“Personally, I think this was one of my best performances of the season,†declared the ex-Verona man.
“I found the right spaces. At other times it happens that there is little space to play and you are forced to look for different solutions. You always have to be good to understand the match and try to find the most appropriate solutions.
“I had the opportunity to find more spaces which allowed me to get towards the by-line and send in some dangerous crosses, but we always have to be careful and maintain our balance.â€
Milan dominated the game at San Siro, creating and squandering a host of chances.
“I think that from now on, we have to try and be more cynical and take better advantage of the chances we get,†Oddo concluded.
Oddo will be hoping to build on yesterday’s impressive performance and try to win his place back from Christian Panucci in the Italian national team ahead of this summer’s European Championships.
