Galliani confirms Carletto faith

Thursday 19 April, 2007 ::: channel4.com

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has confirmed that Carlo Ancelotti will stay, dismissing the Coach’s worries.

The Rossoneri increased their lead over Palermo thanks to the 5-2 win at Ascoli, but the tactician warned the club that he wanted a contract extension, stating that he was eager to continue his adventure with the San Siro outfit.

“I think he will stay for a long time, but I don’t believe there is the need to sign a new contract a year and a half before the current one expires,” Galliani told Sky Italia on Wednesday.

“He has a contract until next season [June 2008] and there will be time to renew it,” added the Rossoneri official.

Ancelotti was not completely happy with the team’s performance, despite the impressive win against bottom of the table Ascoli.

Galliani explained that the Coach was probably disappointed because Milan made their life more difficult in the second half.

“I think he was angry because after a good first half, we lost a bit of concentration,” said the former Lega Calcio chief.

“When we were winning 3-0 and then 4-1, the team looked at itself with too much narcissism.

“However I must admit that Milan have been playing well in the past weeks. After we recovered almost all our injured players, our life changed,”
concluded the Rossonero.

Milan have consolidated fourth place, as they are four points ahead of Palermo, and are now just three points behind Lazio in third after the Biancocelesti’s goalless draw with Chievo.

At this moment of the season... he wouldn't say anything different. (IMG:http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Obviously he wasn't going to say anything negative about Ancelotti, but he didn't have to say anything at all.

They asked him, so if he refused to talk about this issue everyone would have thought Carlo is on his way out...
