Milan are set to make a move for Ajax sensation Ryan Babel when the transfer window reopens in January, according to reports. The 19-year-old forward, who has Surinam origins, is rated highly by former Milan star Marco Van Basten (pictured), who included him in the Netherlands’ squad for the World Cup in Germany. “Babel has the potential to become the new Thierry Henry,†said the Dutch Coach recently. Babel is a natural born winger, who could play next to Alberto Gilardino and Filippo Inzaghi and could also be fielded by Coach Carlo Ancelotti as a second striker. Milan transfer guru Ariedo Braida has long since eyed the youngster and the club seems set to make an offer to Ajax in the attempt to bring Babel to Italy during the January transfer window, although his move may be postponed until the end of the season. Ajax would be looking to net at least £5m for the player due to his importance to their Eredivisie hopes. If Babel did make the switch to the peninsula he certainly wouldn’t be the first Ajax star to make the move. The likes of Edgar Davids, Clarence Seedorf, Patrick Kluivert, Dennis Bergkamp and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have all previously traded life in Holland for a move to Italy. source

QUOTE (berenike_10 @ Oct 16 2006, 10:58 PM) Well, i think that the kid is really promising... He is .. He is amazing; fast, skillful with the ball, brave, ... The type of player that suits Barca, Arsenal, Lyon, Roma, etc .. But to bring him to Milan is a bit far fetched .. 1- He's too young 2- His body is fragile for Serie A 3- He has no experience what- so ever ( and for a club that challenges for to BIG titles season in - season out, he doesnt have what it takes). Lets just say that in 2-3 yrs time, we could start thinking about him, but in real life, at the moment, he isnt what we need,IMHO

Well, when Kaka came to Milan, he hardly got a starting spot .. He was on a 'growth' course, and Kaka was something BIG even before he came here. Kaka played second fiddle to Rui .. But has always had the abilities that he is showing today, ever since he arrived in Milanello (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Gourcuff is Seedorf's sub .. He is technically suited to fit his role (..and better *fingers crossed*) .. Gourcuff wont be a regular until he is 22-23 yrs old, you'll see .. These two r one-offs, transfers like them rarelly happen. .................................................. We can take him, but do u see him getting any play time ?! We have probs with our strikers at the moment .. Is he the solution ?! I mean, I like the idea of a fresh, young, and lively squad; but the odds are against that idea, as it rarelly happened ( Im talking from the late 80's onwards). One day, when he is a hot shot and Milan need his services, I assure you the board wont hesitate a minute to sign him .. Nothing is in their way (IMG: http://cyrus.medialayer.net/~m1ke/milanfan.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
