Milan are still in the hunt to sign Ronaldo even if Real Madrid insist that the clubs are far from closing a deal.
Merengues sporting director Predrag Mijatovic confirmed that his outfit are ready to sell the player, but only at the right price.
“Ronaldo is of great value to us as we will play the Liga and the Champions League, two difficult tournaments where we want to do well,†he noted from Monaco.
“I know [Milan Vice-President] Adriano Galliani is still in Madrid and when I return to town we will eventually meet again.
“However, our positions are very far apart for the time being,†added the former Fiorentina striker.
“I don’t believe we can reach an agreement in a few days. We will see what Milan have to offer us if they really want Ronaldo.â€
Reports in Spain have suggested that the main obstacle to closing the deal was Real Madrid insisting on including Milan’s long-time courted midfielder Kaka.
“Kaka? We like the player very much and we discussed his name with Milan, I think it’s normal for two important clubs to talk about important players,†added Mijatovic.
Real Madrid value Ronaldo at £18m and wanted midfielder Kaka to be included in the deal, but the Via Turati club was not willing to offer more than £10m and with no player in exchange.
Rossoneri officials stayed in Madrid on Thursday, but are now considering alternatives to the ex-Inter crowd favourite.
Galliani and director general Ariedo Braida had a meeting with Roberto de Assis, the brother and agent of Barcelona star Ronaldinho.
It’s understood that Milan enquired about Ronaldinho but also Betis Seville striker Ricardo Oliveira – another of his clients.
Furthermore, the Rossoneri have not yet ruled out the idea of Atletico Madrid's Fernando Torres, although the 22-year-old recently stated he wishes to stay with the Colchoneros.
