QUOTE (X-Offender @ Oct 31 2010, 04:04 AM) The first thing Allegri should do in order to turn it around is benching Gattuso. I don't wanna sound harsh on the guy, he's been running like crazy in these last few matches and I respect that, but his football skills are way to limited for us to be counting on him anymore. Give Flamini a chance for Pete's sake! Actually, you are IMO. Playing Gattuso is not a problem, it's a good thing. Gattuso is one of our better players this season, making great efforts, adds (defensive) security. Something tactical needs to be changed.

Well, for instance, he could stop going forward and concentrate on defending instead. Every time Juve had a counter attack, we were left with Nesta, Sokratis and Pirlo to defend. Then again, the stuff he's been doing well so far could be done by any DM. I repeat, it's time we gave Flamini a chance.

Not on a level like Gattuso does, no, come on, not every DM plays equal as good as a different DM, I just disagree, Gattuso deserves more credit than this. The tactical bit that needs to be changed is that part where you said Nesta, Sokratis and Pirlo are left to defend, if you switch Pirlo with Gattuso, it will be better.

@ Chu-Lip, it would be hard to find a bigger Rino fan then me, but come on!! The guy is done! You're saying he's playing great. But on what basis? That he's running a lot, thus you see him all over the pitch? That to you means he's playing great? No way is Rino playing great and part of our problems in midfield revolve around him.
I find it hard to believe that Allegri is actually telling Rino to go forward while telling Pirlo to stay back, but that is what we're seeing. He's not covering Pirlo, he's not bringing us any defensive stability as you've said and he doesn't add anything to our game except for slowing it down and loses us possession when he finds himself up against it/tries to shoot/or lob the ball hopelessly to an opponent.
The Rino of old covered Pirlo, never let the CBs stranded, held his position and still ran like crazy.

That is playing great for a DM IMO. But I see your point about the roles Gattuso and Pirlo have, and I agree it need to be different. But what's the point in fielding a different DM like Flamini and Allegri uses the same tactics then? Pirlo still would be the one left behind to defend and the DM (Flamini in the other case) pushing forward. Of course Flamini adds more attacking skills than Gattuso, so I guess if Allegri sticks with this crazy tactics it's not a bad idea trying out Flamini, though I have to see if he can manage to do the things Gattuso has done well also that well (because Gattuso has done plenty of good (defensive) things, even though he is pushing forward a lot!), but I guess we will have to see Flamini play first then.

As an athlete imo he is done, and Rino without his physical abilities is pretty much useless. As for the Pirlo Rino problem, maybe it's Rino who is not holding his position well, thus pushing Pirlo in a defensive position because if he didn't do that we'd be left with a big gaping hole in front of the CBs

As for the Pirlo Rino problem, maybe it's Rino who is not holding his position well, thus pushing Pirlo in a defensive position because if he didn't do that we'd be left with a big gaping hole in front of the CBs Pirlo is doing the right thing covering gaps in defense, that has to be said, so I don't blame Pirlo. About Gattuso pushing forward it's simple I guess: Allegri either makes him not doing it so often, and if he doesn't listen, I guess he should be benched. I disagree about Gattuso being done as an athlete, he is not useless, far from it. I think if it wasn't for last season, people like you wouldn't say such nonsense about Gattuso. So either way Allegri is at fault, he either make Gattuso+Pirlo work, or make a new DM+Pirlo couple.

So either way Allegri is at fault, he either make Gattuso+Pirlo work, or make a new DM+Pirlo couple. I'm only saying this because I can see that having Rino play is a problem for us. He slows our game down, doesn't do his job well, which is covering Pirlo

QUOTE (CHU-LIP @ Oct 31 2010, 07:52 PM) I see your point, but the bold part reminds me more of Ronaldinho than Gattuso. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Oh my.... Ronaldinho is just that type of player, Rino never used to slow the game down, his best asset and the biggest reason as to why I always used to prefer Rino over Ambro was that fact alone, he didn't try to do unnacassary things, didn't try to dribble, make stupid passes, etc. He just won it, gave it back to Pirlo, simple, efficient, fast. Now he's not doing that, he's running with the ball, trying to link up with the attackers, etc, thus losing it or passing it back to Pirlo and puts him in a difficuilt position.

QUOTE (han2503 @ Nov 1 2010, 12:09 AM) Oh my.... Oh my, me too .... There are a lot of players on our squad who slow the game down, some by nature, some due to age, others due to lack of interest (or in other words, not giving a hoot). (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) How else could one explain the slow, slow pace of Milan matches, ever since Maldini's last match away against Fiorentina (in which Kaka played, 2008). There is a distinct lack of intensity that has lasted for a whole season and half, bar a few matches here and there. Point I am trying to make is that one player rarely slows down the whole attack, even if he tries his best. The other players if they are fit and fast should make up for it. Seedorf used to do that a few years back, and it was in essence a no-issue, because other players were there to inject pace where needed. That is not the case now. We can debate as much as we want on who slows down our game, but the fact is that a slow game still might work, if everyone reports for duty when called - you just have to bring the opponent players out of their zones, and work through the maze. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Keep it slow, but keep it in control. But what I have seen in these past two months, is a total standstill, a lot of players are just here for roll call, no distinct plan or approach to the match. We only have control over proceedings, if we somehow score first. If the opposition does so, then we become the lost boys of Peter Pan's story. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) Case in point yesterday.
