Cristiano Ronaldo is not the same player for the Portuguese NT that he is for Manchester United. The marking seems to be a lot tighter in international games than it is in EPL games. Italy didn't have too much trouble with him in the recent Italy-Portugal friendly -- Quaresma was much more of a threat.

QUOTE (Giancarlo @ Sep 5 2008, 04:36 PM) Speaking of Quaresma... he had his debut against Locarno. 2-2 draw... terrible performance by Inter tho. This was a second tier Swiss side... Inter went 2 goals down.
Honestly, I think he's gonna flop. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/huh.gif) Ahem: Quaresma Shines In Inter Comeback New Inter signing Ricardo Quaresma made an impressive debut in the friendly against Locarno, helping his team come back to draw after going 2-0 down. »Comments (19) Print This Story Send To A Friend Contact Us galleria zoom Today new Inter recruit Ricardo Quaresma made his debut for the Nerazzurri and, although the same cannot be said about the team's performance in the friendly against Locarno, he did not disappoint. The two goals that allowed the Italian champions to come back from 2-0 down against the Swiss second division team were created by the Portuguese winger. He gave the assist for defender Ivan Cordoba's first goal and inspired the move that led to the penalty converted by Julio Cruz. Quaresma made himself dangerous frequently with unpredictable moves, skillful plays, and his trademark trivela shot. Aside from Cordoba, also Patrick Vieira, Walter Samuel, and Olivier Dacourt all made their return on the pitch after a long injury lay-off. Jose Mourinho can be satisfied about these players' progress and he will hope to have them all back soon. *nuff said.....I have heard you praise Zambrotta like he was made of gold in our preseason friendlies giancarlo so don't take the kid's thunder from him.....yet (IMG: style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) I think he's going to be a huuuge success and him and Mancini are going to be a thorn in any opponent's side for the whole game *edit2* he actually did a trivela free kick!!! (IMG: style_emoticons/default/pirate1.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/guntootsmiley2.gif) (IMG: style_emoticons/default/dramaqueensmil.gif) Where was Inter's defense? Cordoba seems to have done better scoring, yet not defending. Where was the defense? Quaresma made himself dangerous? Against what side? Zambrotta did well enough in a real game. Quaresma is overrated, egotistical and cares nothing about anyone but himself. Good one copying and pasting the goal.com article. I think he's gonna flop in the Serie A. Mancini? Mancini a thorn in any opponent's side? You must be kidding. And in Italy, his tricks won't work. Welcome to the most defense league in the world. He'll get chopped down faster than anything. Quaresma sounds likes Inter's own version of Tiago to me. You post an op/ed piece saying he "shined"... but who exactly did he shine agianst? who is lucarno? LOL. This isn't the second division Swiss league he's gonna play in. He's gonna come up against big defensive guns and defensive midfielders (like the ones we got who would chop him down). Personally, he's not very physical... And don't even try comparing Zambrotta to this guy. Zambrotta is proven world class and he is still world class.
