Serie A kicks off next weekend. On Matchday (Giornata) 1, Milan take on Bologna at the San Siro.

The game will be at 3pm Milan time (2pm UK time, 9am Eastern Daylight Time).

Bologna is one of the 3 teams promoted from Serie B (the other two being Chievo and Lecce). They've been in and out of Serie A, having won the Intertoto Cup in 1998 and going on to the UEFA cup. They were most recently in Serie A in 2004-2005.

Milan Primavera player Davide di Gennaro played for Bologna last year. Off the top of my head, one former notable Rossoneri to have also played for Bologna is Roberto Baggio.

Wow, that's a pretty big bet to make. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) You never know with these things, plus they're only shirt numbers. I'd not be a bit surprised to find Borriello in the squad come the season starts (we'd have heard some rumors if it was otherwise). Guess, we'll see.

There are a rumours that both Roma and now Tottenham are interested, who knows if it's true and if Milan are really willing to sell...

As for my assumption, if Pato does give up his #7 shirt then I personally think it would be only to get #11, which is Borriello's and I don't think he would give up his number if he were to stay. That's my personal view on how things could go.

Sheva said that he didn't mind which number he get as long as it has a 7 in it, so I don't think the number issue is really that much of a problem

I'd appreciate it if they don't. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) We'd look awfully stupid half-way through the season. Quote me on this. Maybe some other time, once we know how good of a player he is.

Agreed. It shouldn't be. It's a frigging number for crying out loud. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) It's not like wearing a certain number sends fear in opposition defenders, and makes you score more goals.

So what would be the difference with him taking Pato's number over another player? (just to kick up a fuss)
Imo - if he can't get seven he has to take a 'new' (avaliable) number one time.
Other than the 7, I think 76 would be the only other real option (given the stupid trend at Milan at the moment).
Personally I am not one to care too much about what number a player wears, because the players make the numbers not the next way around.
All in all I don't mind whatever number Sheva gets, but I am certainly not a 'fan' of the big (D.O.B.) number trend.
