According to reports in Italy, Milan are absolutely desperate to sell Nelson Dida, but are finding it an impossible task due to the goalkeeper’s astronomical wages.

Dida’s 2007/08 season with the Rossoneri was nothing short of disastrous, and there have been constant reports in the press that he will be sold this summer.

The first half of the Brazilian’s campaign was ridden with errors, including a costly one in the Milan derby before Christmas. The 34-year-old eventually lost his place to Zeljko Kalac in January, and did not feature again for the remainder of the campaign.

This coming campaign, Dida looks likely to be third choice goalkeeper behind Kalac and the returning Christian Abbiati.

With this in mind, it is being reported in Italy that Milan have no space for the 34-year-old and are absolutely desperate to offload him from their wage bill.

Unfortunately, the club are finding it impossible to find a buyer because Dida currently earns an astronomical €4.5m a season, with his contract at San Siro running until 2010.

If the Rossoneri were to release Dida on a free transfer it could cost them a small fortune in compensation. Thus Milan find themselves in a sticky situation over what exactly to do with the former Cruzeiro man.

I don't think the fans wanted more and more big name transfers as such, it was more because we haven't really strengthened the team with Milan quality players for the past couple of years. Also, Galliani has stated on numerous occasions how poor we are while offering the likes of Dida £4m per year contracts for sitting on the bench! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Might just be me, but now there's a contradiction here. Either you find talents like Pato and Kaka every single season ((IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) ) or you splurge. There is no in-between.

dont worry i'm sure he actually understands the situation, it's just he'd rather use galliani logic.

Galliani logic is a decision. He does not unlike the merda or Chelsea or Viola, want to show the world

AC Milan: 150 million debt. When the president of his club has f@cking made a promise to Italy that he'll cut down on debts.

You can argue, all the clubs are like that, etc etc, but hey all you guys are doing is shooting the messenger. You think if Silvio puts out Abramovich kind of money to Galliani, he's gonna say no I won't spend your money?

But on the other hand if Silvio says, listen no matter what, I don't want a deficit next season, he has to do the best he can. It's not an easy job, to finish on top and spend so little money. And I would think Galliani deserves a bit more respect for having done that for so long.

Things have changed, Silvio's priorities have changed. When he took over,Silvio was like Roman. Technically even Moratti is kinda in his first phase in the club(considering how long Silvio has been around). In their first phase, all new owners spend lots, try to make a reputation and win the fans over. Gradually it's gonna drop off, this high spending from clubs. It's just not sustaining. Do you realise how much shite Man U will be in, if they don't finish constantly in the QFs of the CL?

I understand every one wants us to win titles big, but in terms of pure economics, you're saying throw 80 million(transfer fees+ yearly wages) to win trophies worth 50. No good...

The Viola? Yes, they're having a good mercato, they're also having a risky mercato. If they had a coach other than Prandelli, I'd be worried about their future. I can only hope he's planned it out well. Remember they haven't sold a lot, and Prandelli like Spalletti still has a bit to learn in the CL stage. If this goes badly, they could be in the same position they were in some time back.Forced to sell stars, to keep afloat.

It's like a pseudo-promotion. Every lower league team, say in the EPL makes huge purchase, because they want to stay up. If they don't, they're screwed since they can't keep fighting, if they do and they disappoint, they're still screwed. But fortunately the EPL gives parachute payments. The CL does not.

Soon, Prandelli will have to choose, does he go for the CL and the biggest prize he can get, or stick to the scudetto, so he can have CL next season.

Don't think for one moment, that Viola have it easy. Oh, and before you say they're making a good effort, yeah I can butt my head against a brick wall all day, and pat myself on the back for effort. End of the day, all I have is a bloody painful head, and a wall in front of me.

I'd actually like that, for a change. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) Other than that an excellent post! Agree with almost all of it.
